Elodie ... when we are not French at all.

Is it pretentious to give a child a French name when she is not remotely French? I just think Elodie is so pretty. She will be dark haired and olive skinned, if that helps...

Let me guess: Shayna? Jenna? Jenny? Sabrina?
Abby/Abigail is becoming quite popular as well, sometimes spelled Abbygaelle..
For boys, Ethan is slowly replacing Kevin as the #1 chavvy name in France.

I think it's fine - it's a nice name, and not difficult for non-French speakers to spell/pronounce!

Lovely name - doesn't matter if you are not french.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 07/06/2012 20:17

I think Elodie is beautiful, would have picked it myself but I know someone called Elodie and it's quite an unusual name around here. She is not French either but lived there for a couple of years when she was a baby.
