Do your children's names match?

I came across sisters called Eve and Hannah the other day and thought that was quite a novel approach to matching sibling names.

Anyway with DC2 on the way it got me thinking about the influence of DS's name on the name for the new one. How much consideration do you think needs to be making your children sound like they are related?

My daughter's names have similarity and it was very important to me that they did in terms of sound and meaning. DD1's name is imbued with meaning so I couldn't have named DD2 just anything, IYSWIM. I couldnt risk saying in the future "DD1, we named you this name because you are so precious and make our lives complete. DD2: well, your name sounds nice ..." They sound similar in that their names both end in 'a' and this was deliberate as mine does, too, and I prefer girls names that end in this sound.

I don't think they match, other than in name order. They all have [Easy to read in English name that has a namesake we like] [My love of Hebrew names that seem to be confusing to everyone else in English goes here] [Passing down family name no one will ever want to see here] [Surname]. But neither their first name or Hebrew name match, I think because we tend to name them after people and they've all come from different backgrounds and times.

The first three make OAM though, which I didn't notice until M was about a year. I quite like that. Now it is OAMF. ASBR in Hebrew. Very glad I didn't give my youngest a Hebrew name beginning with O now, though his initials do spell FRAG.

Personally i hate 1st names that all end in the same sound, especially if there is 3or4 of them to rattle off, sounds so unimaginative, particularly dislike namrs ending in "ie"/ "y" that are bunched together
