Oliver - cute, but quite common these days I think
Arthur - aww! love it

Mildred - very nice. will get shortened to millie though which I don't like so much
Betty/Betsy - love this! wanted for DD but DH vetoed. will it be Elizabeth in full?
Bess - love it, see above
Eliza - quite cute, perhaps slightly less than Betty/Betsy/Bess though
Nancy - really love Nancy (my grandmother's name, definitely due a revival)

I'm not much use am I? I like them all!

Great list! I really like all except so-so on mildred. Maybe cos the end sounds like dread. But don't hate it.

He/she will be fine with any of those :)

Oliver- Beautiful name, but over-used IMO. That may or may not bother you.
Arthur- Brilliant name. I love it but didn't use it because David Cameron has one
Mildred- Not keen. The dread thing.
Betty/Betsy- Gorgeous!
Bess- My favourite girls name ever!
Eliza- Very pretty, I know quite a few under 2
Nancy- Lovely.

peachypips · 02/06/2012 08:01

I love Oliver- don't care it's common!
Absolutely love nancy- wish I'd thought of it! And Bess is lovely too. Very Dickensian!

Thumbwitch · 02/06/2012 08:05

Very strong Dickensian influence there!!

Oliver - fine
Arthur - not keen myself but know it's part of the upcoming trend

Mildred - had a great aunt called this so no, Millicent is nicer IMO
Betty/Betsy/Bess/Eliza - all short for Elizabeth so why not call her that and you can nn her any or all of those at random?Wink
Nancy - not keen.

StepOutOfSpring · 02/06/2012 08:19

I like Oliver and Bess (short for Elisabeth)

HRNiceViperness · 02/06/2012 08:27

Oliver - like: been one of the most frequently used names for years now
Arthur -like

Mildred - don't like at all (and think George and Mildred)
Betty/Betsy/Bess - all lovely as nn for Elizabeth
Eliza - like
Nancy - OK, lots of them aged about 8 and under round here
