1 or 2 middle names. What would you do?

DD is due in just under 4 weeks.

We have decided on Rosalie for her first name and she will also have the middle name Jean as it is my middle name, my Mums, Nans etc.

DH is Welsh and we would like her to also have a Welsh middle name. But the only one we seem to agree on is Rhiannon.

But we can't decide on if we should use it or not. There are a few reasons for this. We can't decide if Jean or Rhiannon sounds better first.

Also I have 2 boys from a previous marriage and they only have 1 middle name. DH is worried(bless him) that they will feel jealous. I don't think this is a problem though.

Any ideas?

Rosalie Rhiannon Jean sounds lovely Smile.

I'd use both and go for Rosalie Jean Rhiannon Surname.

Otherwise if she can't pronounce her Rs she'll end up Wosalie Whiannon.

But then Rosalie Rhi sounds quite cute as a nickname.

Definitely both :)

Rosalie Jean, no more, think of dd at every exam time, 2are enough!

MrsMcEnroe · 26/05/2012 19:46

I have 2 middle names and so does my DD. Go for it!

I'd go for the initials RRJ rather than RJR though .... but that's just a personal preference Smile

Do you have to write your middle names on exams? I don't remember doing that but I did do my GCSEs 10 years ago now.

Surname begins with M if it makes any difference.

Oops you maybe right about exams nowadays McKayz,i'll have to ask my dd's as i took my exams way back when they were called 'o levels!!!

SunnySeeker · 26/05/2012 20:31

Nope - you don't usually have to write middle names for exams. They are usually only used in passport applications, etc.

Both names are very pretty - I would put Jean first.

Congratulations!

i ahve no idea what order, but out of my 5 children 2 of them have 2 middle names, the other 3 only have 1 middle name. there isnt any jealousy about it and they are old enough to let me know if there was.

ds1 has two middle names after each of his grandads and dd has two middle names as she is the only girl after 4 boys, so a bit ofa suprise and we figured we would use up all the girls names we liked! simples Grin

I like the sound of just the one middle name (Jean) but don't see a problem is using 2.

Lunarlyte · 26/05/2012 21:40

Btw, both my girls have hyphenated names. Couldn't do just one name for DD2 when her big sis had a hyphenated name.

If we ever have another child and it's a girl, she'd have to have a hyphenated name also. I think we could break the tradition if we ever have a son!

My DD (from my first marriage) has one middle name. DS (from second marriage) has two. It's never been an issue for us, so don't think it would cause problems in that respect. I think Rosalie Rhiannon Jean Surname sounds best. Good luck with the birth Smile

What a pretty name Rosalie is. I have three names and it has never been a problem for me. When I was very young I used to think my mummy and daddy loved me lots because I had an extra name to my friends
