Classic, "normal" girl's names...

So we are having a girl. Already have a ds with a classic name. Dh doesn't like anything that isn't "normal" but I don't want anything too popular (my name was top in the year I was born and I hated being one of five in my class)

So names I like:

Alice
Imogen
Phoebe
Evelyn (but worry that Eve/Evie is too popular)

Dh likes:
Charlotte
Hazel

Names ending in a or ee sounds don't go very well with our surname.

Any extra ideas? I don't feel like I've found "the one"

Of the names on the list I'd have Alice, Phoebe, Evelyn, Hazel, Charlotte , Imogen in that order, but I only really like the first three. I wouldn't call Hazel a classic name, actually - though it's fine - and Imogen is down to a spelling mistake/printer's error, so I wouldn't call that classic either.

Printing error is only a theory, I think it’s more likely that Imogen was a variant of Innogen. Either way, as it’s been around since the 16th c thus definitely qualifies as classic.

Phoebe doesn't seem to fit your criteria? Ends with an "ee" sound, and while she might not be one of 3/4/5 in a class, there'll likely be others in her peer group.

Rachel has a nice feel to it, and is similar to Hazel in sound. One of my favourite names, actually, but can't be on my list for various reasons (including a Phoebe in the family semi-named after the Friends character!)

Emmeline
Adeline
Jasmine

Alice and Evelyn are my favourites from your list but I am biased. Evelyn doesn't have to be Evie. We are naming this baby Evelyn and we have an Alice, originally planned to nickname her but now we will just see if it flows when she's here. We all refer to her as the full Evelyn atm.

Anna
Kate
Alice
Jane
Mary
Sarah/Sadie
Louisa

Some lovely suggestions here. Another idea is have a look on the bookies favourites for the next royal baby name as there are some lovely classic names there!

Alice seems to tick all the boxes for you classic, quirky and not overly popular.
