Esme
Esmina
Emina

A clear theme there Grin
They all sound lovely and feminine to us, plus Esme is an old family name. Our two sons have family names.

Esme is lovely

welliesandpyjamas · 20/05/2012 10:56

Emma has a lovely sound. But we're from the generation of there being at least two Emmas in every class!

My friends 1 year old is called Emma - its unusual for that generation

exoticfruits · 20/05/2012 13:56

Emma or Emily are much nicer.

MadameMessy · 20/05/2012 14:18

Esme is lovely. Really. Go with that, its a family name, I think you'll regret it if you don't

exoticfruits · 20/05/2012 14:19

If you have to have one, Esme us the best.

welliesandpyjamas · 20/05/2012 14:24

That's nicely put, madamemessy :) and I think you're right, we might regret it if we didn't.

I just googled it, maryz, and Hmm what a horrid sounding character. Confirms why I've never got caught up in any of these vampire programmes. Phew, glad the name doesn't have those associations for me!

Esme, by a long shot.
Have not met another since I left school in 1989!

LineRunner · 20/05/2012 14:36

MaryZ, I just read a book with a character called Flair Hickory in it. That's five hours of my life I'll never get back.

MadamFolly · 20/05/2012 14:44

How about Esmerelda? Beautiful and can be shortened to Esme.

welliesandpyjamas · 20/05/2012 14:45

Grin linerunner - Flair Hickory!

MadamFolly · 20/05/2012 14:45

Esme also reminds me of Granny Weatherwax, which is a good thing.

LineRunner · 20/05/2012 15:04

wellies I may be forced to suggest Flair and Hickory on a suitable baby name thread. Or Flair-Hickory. Smile

welliesandpyjamas · 20/05/2012 15:07

Oh, do it! On one of those thread where they desperately want an unusual name! If you do it, I'll back you up on it Grin

madamefolly I like the terry pratchet connection Grin

We have a good friend called Esmeralda though, so we've already discounted that one. It's a funny thing, but we've never been able to bring ourselves to use names of people we know! Just got to hope we don't meet an Esme before September!

How does Esme Emina sound? Surname is single syllable and starts with a hard consonant.

I think it sounds lovely :)
