Lovely story about a gorgeous baby girl delivered by her Dad in minutes in the family bathroom: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-18070257

Her proud mum and dad have named her Bo-Pierre which leads me to wonder: what's the most unusual hypenated name you've come across?

We had a family of children who all had Eric something as a first name. They all then had a different second name hyphenated on and a different surname. There were 3 of them. (Fortunately none of them were girls).

April-May just made me snort tea out of my nose Grin

Not hyphenated but dreadful- overheard both " Dijonnais" and "Chardonay" .
Also heard of parents attempting to name a child Chlamidya!! I kid you not

SilkStalkings · 20/05/2012 20:04

Various spellings of Milaena comes up a lot on naming boards too - "blood in faeces" to anyone in the medical profession.

LineRunner · 20/05/2012 20:13

Flair-Hickory.

From across the pond, apparently.

BenderBendingRodriguez · 20/05/2012 20:27

There was a girl on Junior Bake Off called Coco-Nina, which struck me as unusual.

SoozyWoozy · 20/05/2012 21:35

Emmi-leah.

Pronounced the same as Amelia Confused

ButterPecanMuffin · 20/05/2012 22:26

Back home in the States, I knew a girl called Ashleigh-Lee. Confused

One of my biggest bug bears, is people who break up a whole name by a hyphen, for example I once knew an Eliza-Beth. You would think that would be pronounced as two distinct names; Eliza + Beth, but no, she was Elizabeth just as Eliza-Beth. I once saw a Lu-Cee in a birth announcement and an An-Drew. I mean FFS.

LineRunner · 21/05/2012 11:14

An-Drew. Please tell me you're making that one up.

This is a made-up thread, isn't it? Grin

Le-a. Pronounced Ledasha. Yep, that's no silent hyphen!

hiviolet · 22/05/2012 07:12

Ledasha is an urban myth isn't it? I've heard that one dozens of times before Grin

hiviolet · 22/05/2012 07:14

It is!

Do you think in Germany there are people who call their kids Umlaut and get sneered at on Mutternet? Would love to see question in a different language.

BillyBollyBandy · 22/05/2012 08:20

Ivie-Jay

Psammead · 22/05/2012 08:24

Here in Germany there are also hyphenated names, it's not unusual. Or names just stuck together.

Anna-Lena
Sophie-Marie
Annkathrin

The name which gets ridiculed the most in Germany is Kevin. There was a spate of them some 10 years ago.
