Not even a real name I know but any thoughts when used as a middle name for a girl born around the Jubilee celebrations?

not sure if this is well known but the concept of a "jubilee year" is actually a Judeo-Christian concept. very Mosaic Law, Old Testament. so to me, it's more a name for an extremely devout evangelical Christian sort of family (like the Duggars as someone mentioned before)

but then i'm not British so i expect the royal connotations are strong enough in the UK that they supplant the religious aspect.

Julie Bea? Grin

TwllBach · 13/05/2012 20:10

I really like the name Regina. I am a bit annoyed now because I have a sneaky suspicion there are going to be loads of them running around in te next three/four years Grin

No.

HamblesHandbag · 13/05/2012 20:12

oh jeez, not Regina!

You may as well call your child Vagina and be done with it!

BackforGood · 13/05/2012 20:14

No.

Just No.

RooibosWithMilk · 13/05/2012 20:18

I like it. As a middle name I mean. I'm always very happy when I meet people whose names have a particular meaning like that (not just a name that has a meaning their parents liked but one that links them to something that happened around the time they were born)... I just find it pleasing!

LineRunner · 13/05/2012 20:24

Bonkers.

CremeEggThief · 13/05/2012 20:25

What's wrong with Regina??? It would never be on my list, but there were three in my school in Ireland. Never realised it was so out there!

Whoopydofoxpoo · 13/05/2012 20:30

' Lillybeth '. ? That's what the Queen was called when a young girl .

HavePatience · 13/05/2012 20:36

I had a friend called Jubilee growing up. In the US. I have no idea if it's 'normal' or not but seems normal to me because I grew up with her iyswim. :)

AThingInYourLife · 13/05/2012 20:37

:o

Worryingly, that's the kind of name DH might actually agree to Shock

amillionyears · 13/05/2012 20:42

Nooooooooo.Think about what the child will think when they are 21.
No 21 year old that I know would want to be called Diana or somesuch even as a middle name.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 13/05/2012 21:14

CremeEgg, for exactly the reason Hambles said - it sounds exactly like Vagina, bloody awful Shock.

Maybe I'm pronouncing it incorrectly but I would be changing my name if my mum had saddled me with that!

CremeEggThief · 13/05/2012 21:36

Aha! All the Reginas I knew in Ireland all pronounced it the Latin way- Rejeena.

Beachcombergirl · 13/05/2012 21:55

Ha ha. Cheers all. Loving the responses and mixed opinions Grin

I think it's fine, nobody uses their middle name, but kids can take the mick of them (went to primary school with a boy who's middle name was trainer). I like the sentiment but perhaps Elizabeth?

amillionyears · 14/05/2012 07:37

Beachcombergirl, one thinks you may be having a little joke!

HavePatience · 14/05/2012 07:46

Regina is definitely rejeena.

exoticfruits · 14/05/2012 07:47

Go for Elizabeth, then your DC won't have a lifetime of explaining they had a nutty mother! ( I suppose it is marginally better than Queenie)

birdofthenorth · 14/05/2012 08:34

I think Nicename Jubilee Surname would be quite cool! Better than Nicename Rose or Nicename May which appear to make up for 50% of girls' middle names at the mo.

Certain to turn her into an ardent Republican though!
