Noah with our surname??

with Miah, so Noah Miah. DH is adamant it's his favourite, I love it too but have been advised against it due to the rhyme.

I can see the rhyming issue but then also think it works, opinions in RL are divided so I want some honesty!

Also any nice girls names to go with the surname would help (I like Jemima have mentioned it on a thread before but that's really bad with Miah!)

I think it sounds nice and flowing.

AceOfBase · 12/05/2012 13:16

How do you pronounce that? Is it my-a or me-a?

Softlysoftly · 12/05/2012 13:17

Me-a

I wouldn't. It really jars with your surname imho, and I love Noah.

MummysLittleSunbeams · 12/05/2012 13:57

Sorry it's a no from me too, although I do love the name Noah.

picnicbasketcase · 12/05/2012 13:59

As long as your name's not Sark, I wouldn't veto Noah.

Oooh, I really like Noah Miah, it's
distinctive and flows nicely.
I'm jealous!

AceOfBase · 12/05/2012 14:09

You could call a girl cara and when her teacher calls out her name she could respond with "mon chere" like in the Adams family :o

I think Noah is fine

Littlefish · 12/05/2012 14:11

Sorry to go against the grain, but I think Noah Miah sounds terrible. Really twee.

Wildwaterfalls · 12/05/2012 14:11

Noah is fine with your surname I think.

For a girl, if you like Jemima, how about Jessica, Jessamy or Josephine?

AceOfBase · 12/05/2012 14:22

Jessamy miah wild? That's not good.

TidyDancer · 12/05/2012 14:28

I wouldn't do it. I think it sounds too sing-song ish.

Wildwaterfalls · 12/05/2012 14:31

Oh yes, ignore Jessamy

LossDePlott · 12/05/2012 14:36

sounds like doe a deer

AceOfBase · 12/05/2012 14:50

I think you need something that ends with a hard consonant with at least two syllables eg Edward, Nicholas, Carson, Sebastian etc.
I don't see a problem with Noah though (amd yes I know I am contradicting myself :o)

Stellan · 12/05/2012 14:53

I think it's OK but it does sound like Noahmiah - one appellation rather than two. Personally, that's not a dealbreaker for me but it might be for you.

HastyPudding · 12/05/2012 15:36

I now have 'Noah Miah' running through my head to the tune of Abba's 'Mamma Mia'!

Softlysoftly · 12/05/2012 15:59

Arrgh this is what happened in RL divided opinion totally, you lot are rubbish Wink

hasty don't that happens with every name hence Jemima miah being out! Either that or it turns into a disease, our other choice was Annie which then becomes anaemia Hmm

Ace Sebastion is my favourite actually but DH is unsure

Littlefish · 12/05/2012 16:15

Sebastian Miah is lovely.

HolyCameraConfusionBatman · 12/05/2012 17:04

I think Noah Miah is ok. Just hope he ends up in the same class as Bruno Hercules and no-one will look twice at his name!

Sebastian Miah is better though.

3littlebirds · 12/05/2012 19:27

Sorry SoftlySoftly, I too agree, it would be a no for me too. Both names seperate are lovely but together just don't work. Good luck.

babyblabber · 12/05/2012 20:20

sorry, really think it doesn't go well at all. the same amount of letters and the same sounds, too much. what about joshua, similar enough to noah.

PestoPenguin · 12/05/2012 20:29

I would say no. For some reason it reminds me of the doh ray me song in the Sound of Music Hmm, but that's almost certainly just me Wink Grin
