Girls names, Rosa....

Hi all,

And for our girls name shortlist, we have narrowed it down a lot at last, we both really like Rosa.

Not sure whether to give her a longer name... Rosalie, Rosabel, Rosalind, Rosalia, Rosemary (Romy for nickname perhaps)......

Any preferences or ideas? Thank you! X

I like them all very much, except Rosabel.

Rosemary is perhaps my favourite.

welovesausagedogs · 07/05/2012 21:34

Don't give her a longer name, Rosa is lovely on it's own and is definitely a proper name.

smother · 07/05/2012 21:57

Rosa is gorgeous - by far the nicest of the names you've listed - and Rosie is a great nn for a little one. Rose is also lovely as an alternative. But stick with Rosa is you love it!

MarySA · 07/05/2012 22:30

I think Rosa is a lovely name on its own. But of the longer names I like Rosalie and Rosalind best.

hellymelly · 07/05/2012 22:34

I love love Rosa. And all your other forms too actually. Very pretty and elegant.

CaringMum28 · 08/05/2012 00:28

Just a word of warning I know 5 under 3 in north London& 3 are at my 2yr old's play school (20kids). Also my 2nd cousin's child aged 4 is a Rosa.

hellymelly · 08/05/2012 00:37

That's funny, as I moved away from North London 4 years ago, and had only met one at that point (she would be seven now). there are none where I live now (wildest wales).

Devora · 08/05/2012 00:38

Rosa is best, just as it is.

Brandnewbrighttomorrow · 08/05/2012 00:41

I think Rosa is lovely. My dh's maternal grandmother was Rosina which i loved but didn't work with our surname.

randomimposter · 08/05/2012 08:48

Rosa is just lovely.

I also like Rosanna and slighlyt less Rosamund.

Positiveplus · 08/05/2012 12:43

Just Rosa is fine! Smile

Wildwaterfalls · 08/05/2012 19:35

Rosa just as it is is gorgeous!

beatofthedrum · 08/05/2012 19:45

We nearly chose this. I love it. Agree that it is a complete name in itself. Never met any Rosas.

fluzle · 08/05/2012 19:58

I LOVE Rosa! It's on my shortlist Smile

Geranium3 · 08/05/2012 20:12

longer name i prefer rosalind and also like rosanna

mungojerrie · 08/05/2012 20:17

Love Rosa. We have almost certainly decided on it for DD2 due in 4 weeks. We are in the north and I don't know any others. Lovely name :)

MoonHare · 08/05/2012 22:37

I like Rosa. I think it stands alone but of the longer versions you mention I prefer Rosalind.

woolly76 · 10/05/2012 05:44

I have a Rosa :)

JaffaSnaffle · 10/05/2012 05:55

I love Rosa. I know one, and I always think what a great name. The loveliness of Rose and history of the strength of Rosa Parks. I would consider using it myself if I have another DD, apart from the fact my DD has Rose as her middle name.

gorionine · 10/05/2012 06:21

Rosa is a lovely name. I know two of different generations and they are both really nice persons!

Littleviolet · 10/05/2012 07:44

Rosa is lovely on it's own and I like Rosanna too.

EliasRose · 11/05/2012 21:09

Thank you so much guys. I think just Rosa it is! It's taken a long time to get here..... I'm going to try and not over think the names anymore! Good luck all x

Hooray Grin

sashh · 12/05/2012 06:26

Rosa - nothing wroong with it, and if she has half the courage of Rosa Parks it will stand her in good stead.

WhispersOfWickedness · 12/05/2012 06:40

I have a Rosa Grin And don't know any others Smile It is a great name, feminine but with really 'strong' connotations, i.e. Rosa Parks Smile
