Emilia is the nicest. Lily is fine, I find it a bit of a 'vanilla' name though. Daisy I really don't like - sorry, it's just personal opinion, because for me it reminds me of Daisy the Cow or Daisy who played Hyacinth Bucket's slobby sister in Keeping Up Appearances. That may not be a TV show you even are aware of. I tend to think of Daisy's as being people who are a bit slow on the uptake. Emilia Grace is the nicest combo I think.

Lily is nice. it's a nickname for Elizabeth... i prefer Elizabeth.

Daisy is OK. also a nn, for Margaret, which i also prefer to the nn.

Emilia's quite frilly but nice in its own way. i would probably only use it if i were Italian.

i don't think any of them will cause your daughter embarrassment or anything! they're all quite nice.

tammytoby · 02/05/2012 10:16

They are all very very popular and trendy. Personally I would only use Margaret (nickname Daisy), but thankfully we all have different tastes Smile.

Stellan · 02/05/2012 10:22

First, they are all very pretty names.

However, I wouldn't use any of them as they are very trendy:
Lily jumped from the 85th most popular name in 1996 to 4th in 2010;
Daisy from 71st to 15th; and
Emilia from 356th to 71st.

I pronounce Amelia/Emilia basically the same so if we look at Amelia, she's gone from 63rd to 5th.

You can see why all of these names have soared in popularity - they are all pretty, feminine, girly, etc.

But, for me, I'd be worried that with such quick rises they're likely to be in for some quick falls and might date.

They are all lovely but just be aware that your daughter might not be the only one in her class and her name might scream 'child of the 2010s' in a few decades time.

squoosh · 02/05/2012 10:49

They're a little bit bland.

Lily is this generation's Tracy. Fact.

Daisy is Michelle.

So I'd plump for Emilia.

ripsishere · 02/05/2012 10:59

None of them make you go wow, but I would opt for Emilia Grace.

ExitPursuedByABear · 02/05/2012 11:01

Lily Grace.

From your list.

But not of them make me want to do cartwheels.

OneLittleBabyTerror · 02/05/2012 11:07

I agree with stellen that Emilia is the same as Amelia. As long as you re happy with this. All these names are very popular at the moment. There is nothin wrong with a popular name though. People like them because they are nice. You can be unique and call your DD talula does the hula from hawaii (real story from back home), but thats very unfortunate.

Stick with the names you like and don't worry if it's popular or not!

jenrose29 · 02/05/2012 21:22

I don't pronounce Amelia and Emilia the same, would shorten Emilia to Emmie which I don't think you can do so much with Amelia to Ammie, or at least I haven't heard of that version. Would love something more unusual but can't think of any...any suggestions?

pretty but bland. and emilia is just like amelia - you might not think that, but everyone else will (not that what anyone else thinks matters!)

BorisJohnsonsHair · 02/05/2012 21:48

I think Emilia Grace sounds the nicest combination. Good luck - hope all goes well.

exoticfruits · 02/05/2012 21:55

Emilia Grace

MrsLetch · 02/05/2012 21:56

Emilia is by far the nicest name.

I agree with squoosh, but with the add on that to me, they're both dogs names. Or maybe we just have odd names for dogs in my family Grin.

jenrose29 · 02/05/2012 22:02

True - Daisy is a bit dog/cow related! Any suggestions on more unusual names? Surname will be Rose and her sister is called Ellie.

OP posts:
tammytoby · 03/05/2012 12:19

If her sister is Ellie, then you obviously don't mind 'trendy' names and all three suggestions go well with Ellie. However, Emilia/Emmie and Ellie are very similar, perhaps too much so?
