Our little boy is coming up to two weeks old and we can't decide between these two names. His middle name will be Christopher

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh you definitely can't have Logan with the surname Fletcher. I don't like Logan because it's one of those American surnamey type names. And Fletcher is also used as a first name. Put both together and your child sounds like a firm of solicitors. In fact if you used something like Morgan as a middle name, you could go into business. Logan Morgan Fletcher, family lawyers since 2012.

Oh god, even more confused now and I kind of like the idea if calling him Christopher, which we hadn't really considered before

I think Christopher is lovely!

ohgawd · 27/04/2012 11:46

Don't like Logan. Go with Finn.

roguepixie · 27/04/2012 11:48

Logan makes me think of Wolverine (not that I mind thinking of Hugh Jackman but it may not be the 'image' you are looking for Smile).

I would go for Finn, even though it is popular. I think it is a lovely name.

Just to add: think Kit is lovely too.

taten · 27/04/2012 11:56

We also had nathaniel on a previous short list

PorkyandBess · 27/04/2012 11:57

Logan is dreadful. I would put it in the same territory as Jayden or Kayden type names.

Finn is ok.

taten · 27/04/2012 12:01

My hubby raised the wolverine point as well, and I agree with you rougepixie not such a bad thing to think of ;)

Nathaniel is lovely.

If my bump is a boy I am currently liking Nicholas, Alexander or Edward. :)

taten · 27/04/2012 12:06

We liked Nicholas but wee man has a cousin called that already and Alex was in our top names list. Edward is a fab of one of my best mummy friends

I like both Logan is gaelic, means Hollow.
Would have to google Finn, but I like it too

HolyCameraConfusionBatman · 27/04/2012 15:48

Nathaniel is nice and goes really well with your surname. Nathaniel Fletcher/ Nate Fletcher. That's lovely.

NovackNGood · 27/04/2012 22:51

Or even Norman Stanley Fletcher..

itfcbabe · 28/04/2012 00:23

Has to be Finn but i prefer Finlay(I have one)
Goes well with your surname as well.
x

mamalovesmojitos · 28/04/2012 10:39

Christopher lovely too. I met a Logan once, he was drop-dead gorgeous. However, with your surname I think Finn is great. Finn Fletcher is a really strong name.

logi · 28/04/2012 23:15

I like both ...but would choose Logan :)

Booette · 29/04/2012 08:50

I love Nathaniel. I like Finn and Logan too.

BBQJuly · 29/04/2012 08:53

Love Christopher and Nathaniel.

Psammead · 29/04/2012 09:36

I like Logan, but it comes with baggage, I think.

Of course I mainly like it because I fancy Wolverine Blush

I am always a bit wary of Finn. I like it, but it sounds like 'thin' and I think if you had a podgy Finn it might invite bullies. But that might just be my stupid brain.

LondonKitty · 29/04/2012 09:44

I really like Finn.

FrauGrau · 29/04/2012 21:03

Can't see how Finn could "date", given that it's been around for hundreds of years ............ love it!! Not sure that it goes with Fletcher, although Finlay Fletcher does have a ring to it. Hate Logan, but then again ..... Logan Fletcher sounds rather smart!!

tammytoby · 29/04/2012 22:00

Personally I did not know a single Finn about 10 years ago (in the UK, that is). Now I know at least 10 Finns aged about 8 and under, so it has become much more popular (fairly quickly).

What people mean with 'dating' is that if a name becomes very popular quickly (and then falls out of favour again) it becomes associated with that time, e.g. Sharon in the 1960s, Steve in the 1970s etc.

bigbluebump · 01/05/2012 12:36

Another vote for Christopher - great classic name!

Positiveplus · 01/05/2012 13:21

Christopher is great - as is Christian.

Nathaniel would be my fav though, love Nathan!

Finn is ok - call my car this though not sure I'd call my child it?!

Logan is a no no for me, sorry.
