It's life... but not as we know it

PercyFilth · 22/04/2012 00:11

Yes, as long as his formal name is James. Then he is covered in case he doesn't want to be Jim.

Pancakeflipper · 22/04/2012 00:13

I am with Percy, has to be James then shorten it to Jim.

Badgerina · 22/04/2012 00:16

James. Nn Jim.

lisaro · 22/04/2012 00:17

James if nice. Jim as a name isn't, although it's fine as a derivative on a middle aged man.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 22/04/2012 00:19

I think - 'Thank christ this child has a mother to save him from that' Grin

CointreauVersial · 22/04/2012 00:20

Baby Gym Jim.

Actually, I don't mind it; my friend has a Jim, now 9, and the name suits him. I think he is possibly a James, but has never used that name.

tummytickler · 22/04/2012 00:23

James, nn Jim, is fabulous. But not Jim on its own.

SingingSands · 22/04/2012 00:24

Love it. But don't spread it around - I don't want it becoming too popular Wink

Snauzenthumpen · 22/04/2012 00:28

brother born Jim. grew up as Jimmy now Jim but probably James at work.
Can't see the name objectively but mainly because I worked with a narcissistic Jim recently.

Snauzenthumpen · 22/04/2012 00:28

Also call him Jimbo and Bimmy

ComposHat · 22/04/2012 00:29

My chosen name and I like it (and although a gentleman, I am not yet middle aged) although Jimmy might be a better nickname if you think Jim is a bit fogeyish.

James is on my birth cert though, even though it only the Doctor, Dentist and Bank who know me as thus.

I will not respond to Jamie in any circumstances, although bizarrely quite like being called Jamesie by a Scottish colleague.

startail · 22/04/2012 00:31

It's my Dad's nn, but he's not James.
(Old radio show related).
I like it, but would put James on the BC.

My DS would have been James, but I have 2 DDsGrin

DuelingFanjo · 22/04/2012 00:39

do it. My son has a 'nick-name' as his full name on the birth certificate. (eg Jim not james) and you should ignore the weird people who get freaked out at the thought of a shortened version being a full name.

ComposHat · 22/04/2012 00:39

Which old radio show startail?

If you don't mind me asking.

PercyFilth · 22/04/2012 00:49

I am not weird.

Pancakeflipper · 22/04/2012 01:03

Neither am I.

Pancakeflipper · 22/04/2012 01:04

And I am not freaked.

Snauzenthumpen · 22/04/2012 01:07

i'm weird and freaked
