Sylvie - no, I have images of an old barmaid aka Bet Lynch
Elise - very nice. A good name for a grown woman, but also suits a child. Pretty, yet stylish at the same time.
Corinne (KO-rinn) - nope.
Isabelle - boring
Juliane - to work I think it has to be spelt Julianne, otherwise it looks mispelt, having said that, don't like it.
Valerie - works in a bakery and is 50.
Serena - classy posh bird.
Rose - boring
Adele - nice but people might think you are naming her after Adele.
Mirabelle - no, but only because I studied a play at school with a character called Mirabell - and HE was a vain, nasty piece of work.
Jacqueline - no, she is 50.
Tabitha - cat
Elisabeth - boring
Camille - don't like the French pronunciation.
Madeleine - pretty
Sophie - boring
Juliette - nice, but Juliet is better. That said, all Juliet's live with the Romeo question.
Gemma (btw we are not in UK, this has never been popular here) - no
Alice - ok
Eva - pretty
Valentina - gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous
Estelle - ok
Calista - Flockhart
Justine - Grange Hill
Eloise - pretty, but better as a middle name
Anna - boring
Stephanie - nice
Eleanor - never liked
Gabrielle - Gabriella is WAY better. Lovely name.
Josephine - no
Danielle - no
Cora - no
Annabel - ok
Susannah - ok. Not keen on the inevitable Susie, Suze, Sue nicknames.

Wow, that is long [grin

I love Sylvie, Rose (or Rosa), Cora, Valentina, Camille.

Josephine, Susannah and Anna are nice, classic names.

Prefer Juliet to the 'ette' ending, which is fussy.

The ones that make me shudder are:
Mirabelle
Valerie (not ready for a comeback -Valentine is far nicer)
Justine (1970s-tastic, sorry Justie MN! Grin)
Jacqueline (terribly dated)

Danielle and Gabrielle are 'meh'. Giselle?

Prefer Stella or the Spanish Estrella to Estelle

Isabelle, Eva, Alice and Sophie are very popular names in the UK, which is slightly off putting to me, but may not be to you.

The rest are all fine names, just not to my taste.

MagsAloof · 23/04/2012 14:28

Valentina is much nicer, excuse typos!

redrubyshoes · 23/04/2012 14:30

Elisabeth Alice is perfect.
