Strong (but not over-popular) boys' names

I quite like traditional boys' names (James, Edward, etc) but I really would like a boys' name which is not too popular - the problem is I can't seem to find any! Suggestions very welcome :o

My DS is Sean. Not commen, strong and traditional.

We've chosen Evan Jon for our DS when he ever gets here, Greek meaning little warrior! Not Welsh as everyone immediately asks! Smile

Adam
Luke
Zachary
Dominic
William
Edward
Christopher
Marcus

nasara my dd2 goes to nursery school with a little boy called Orin, although they spell it Odhran. I do know that it pronounced slightly differently but I'm terrible at phonetic spellings Grin

I really like Niall, although my husband vetoed it as he went to school with lots and we had 3 daughters Grin Dominic was on our shortlist for dd2.

Babylon

Good choice . But Evan is the Welsh variant of John

Thetokengirl · 15/04/2012 21:04

What about Edward as you mentioned in your original post?
I have one and I don't think it's too common. Mine says that he has been told he is the only one in the school. so he doesn't have to put his surname on his homework.

Why a "strong" name? Surely any traditional masculine name will do. Just avoid any which could be given to girls, albeit with a different spelling (Leslie, Francis, Tracy, Jocelyn etc). Actually I'm not sure Jocelyn is that strong really.

Oren is Welsh for orange - that made me giggle a bit Grin

Don't like Niall at all, but love Jago.

Leo?

greencolorpack · 16/04/2012 00:04

Hume, or Hector, or Miles.

Babylon1 · 16/04/2012 14:04

Sorry, should have said there, Evan is also a Welsh name, but we chose it for the Greek meaning - just makes me laugh when everyone says, ooh that's Welsh! I have no problem with it being Welsh too, but we like the Greek meaning of Little Warrior!!! :)

gafhyb · 16/04/2012 18:56

yy Babylon - DS1 loves the fact that it means little warrior. He doesn't feel himself to be the strongest boy

TheGoddessBlossom · 16/04/2012 18:59

I've decided I really like the name Seth....
