Boaz and Ezra....what do you think????

I am considering both. Already have a boy with an E name, though not sure if that is a problem really!!
Our surname begins with a B so wondering if that rules out Boaz?

So apart from that what do you think of the two names???

I think that I am pretty much sold on Ezra at this stage! The only thing that is still niggling me is Eli and Ezra too many E's? Though looking at it now it seems like a cute sibset!

I think you can get away with Eli and Ezra because one's an 'ee' sound and the other more of an 'eh' sound. I probably wouldn't name twins Eli and Ezra - as that could be a little bit too cute - but an older sibling called Eli (i.e. in a different year at school etc.) should be fine.

Other 'cool'-sounding Biblical names:
Amos
Asa
Asher
Barnabas
Cornelius
Gideon
Isaiah
Javan
Jesse
Joel
Josiah
Levi
Micah
Phineas
Reuben
Rufus
Simeon
Tobiah

I have a 9 year old Eli and when we were pregnant with ds2, 5 years ago we considered Ezra, but decided it was too similar (for us), but it is so lovely.
Boaz is ace! Absolutely gorgeous.
I would go for Boaz (we went for Amos).
Also love Gideon, Jethro, Micah, Abraham, Moses, Peter, David, Solomon.

aberdeen im very sleepy but was just [shocked] at the penis explanation! never read nor heard anything like that before about boaz i mean. Anyway...........i guess you won't be going anywhere near "Moses" then Grin

Boaz is fairly common in Israel I think. Not a fan though.

Ezra I'd associate with the poet Ezra Pound who became a raging fascist and antisemite in the 30s.

Love Ezra, was on my list for Ds. Also love Eli and Ds middle name, Elias. Boaz is ok and goes with Eli but my vote would be for Ezra.

revolutionconfirmed · 17/04/2012 07:28

Ezra is fab.

MagsAloof · 17/04/2012 09:03

Boaz is awful.

Love Ezra, though.

Pixieonthemoor · 17/04/2012 14:43

Sorry but I think both are hideous.

Someone up thread mentioned Eli - now THAT is cool!!

CuppaTeaJanice · 17/04/2012 19:54

She can't have two sons both called Eli though, Pixie. That would be a bit too 'George Foreman'!

ElephantsAreMadeOfElements · 17/04/2012 20:01

She'd never need to relabel school uniforms, though. And Eli The Younger would have ready access to ID to prove he was old enough to drink in pubs/clubs, so it would be a win for everyone really (even the older DS -- when I was pregnant with DC2 my DS really wanted the baby to have the same name as him if it turned out to be a boy. And to be called "Mummy" if it was a girl).

EldonAve · 17/04/2012 20:05

WithACherryOnTop · 21/04/2012 19:23
