Any thoughts on that for a name?

Hate it. sorry. For some reason it's one of those names that conjures up a strong, rather negative stereotype for me.

MumbleMumm · 08/04/2012 04:33

Next door neighbours little boy is called Liam. All I can hear in my head when I hear the name is my next door neighbour saying 'oh Liiuaaam will you STOP DOING THAT!' so yeah - conjures up wrong image in my head - sorry :-)

CheerfulYank · 08/04/2012 04:40

I like Liam.

It's pretty popular but nice, I've always thought.

Beans1977 · 08/04/2012 07:42

A certain Mr Gallagher has ruined this name for me!

AlpinePony · 08/04/2012 07:59

Name him William and then use Liam if you like it.

Fwiw, I think it's a lovely name but there are some negative connotations associated with it, so perhaps it depends on where you live.

Where I live there'd be no issue at all.

FondleWithCare · 08/04/2012 09:28

I didn't know Liam had negative connotations Confused. I think it's a really lovely name, it's what I wanted if I had a boy.

pinkorkid · 08/04/2012 09:43

No negative connotations that I know of - it's a lovely name.

lisaro · 08/04/2012 09:48

Unfortunately it's now used frequently by people of a certain volume. The child almost always sports an earring and mullet.

LST · 08/04/2012 13:13

Thank you for replying! I love the name Liam. I don't think there'd be a problem with negative connotations!

It's OK, although I prefer William.

Superfly · 08/04/2012 16:02

I have a Liam. A good strong Irish name for a sweet-natured quiet little boy. If you love it go for it - there be always be the negative connotations to the name - but you'll find you'll get that with just about any name Smile

Showmethemhappyfeet · 08/04/2012 16:22

My little brother is called Liam... Not a mullet or earring in sight! I actually quite like it Smile

welovesausagedogs · 08/04/2012 16:27

I don't like it, conjures up the wrong sort of image also.

Superfly · 08/04/2012 18:07

I have a smile to myself when a name 'conjures' up an image - my ds and us as a family would buck just about every stereotypical thing thought about the name Liam.

No mullets, earrings or Oasis-loving going on here either. Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/04/2012 21:00

I know a little Liam - no earring, no mullet, no parental volume.
