Can't decide if I love it or not!

I think it sounds friendly and it has a very nice meaning (actually two nice meanings) to DH and I, but I also worry if it's a bit.... well... trailer trash!

Hoping it isn't because I do like it!

What do you all reckon?

I think of the nice doctor in Private Practice. So American. but not trailer trash

KK8 · 08/04/2012 01:01

LOVE LOVE LOVE Cooper - always have :)

Go for it xx

Janoschi · 08/04/2012 01:02

DC2 (ttc) would be quarter American but living in UK.

I'll maybe add it to the list then!

Awful.

AnnaFender · 08/04/2012 02:12

It is my maiden name, so I love it, feel it wouldn't work for a DC of mine though [bugrin]

I did think that if I had a DS it would make a cool middle name (had DD's) In all honesty though, not sure if it works as a first name in the UK.

Kayano · 08/04/2012 02:15

It's the surname I had at birth....

Awful as a first name Sad sorry

tentative123 · 08/04/2012 02:16

Love!

StrawberryMojito · 08/04/2012 02:20

I like it but would depend on the surname.

FondleWithCare · 08/04/2012 09:29

Surname only to me.

Methe · 08/04/2012 09:31

It's the only surname-as-a-first-name name that I like but I don't think i'd ever have the guts to use it.

SootySweepandSue · 08/04/2012 09:35

Boy or girl? I know a male one but he's American.

Janoschi · 08/04/2012 10:39

Boy.

I'm really not a surname as forename type, which could be why I'm struggling a bit with how people might perceive it.

Other option is Manfred (nn either Manni or Fredo). Named for DH's great uncle.

For a girl we have:

Rixt
Truda

Middle name is an idea....

Manfred Cooper K***.

Hmm....

C0smos · 08/04/2012 13:50

I like it but it does make me think of Marissa Cooper in the OC whose nickname was Pooper Scooper!

dreamingbohemian · 08/04/2012 13:52

I have an (American) cousin named Cooper -- it's very popular in parts of the US, so I'm not that keen on it!

Yes to Fredo Smile

CoteDAzur · 08/04/2012 13:53

Pooper (sorry)

Janoschi · 08/04/2012 14:33

Okay, so I'll suggest Manfred Cooper K*** to my DH, little Fredo for short. I do like it. Thanks for the help! Knowing our luck we'll now get another girl!

That sounds very anti-girl - ooops! I meant after getting a nice boys name sorted, it'll turn out to be useless. [bublush]

I don't like it,though I generally love American style names like that. It#s much better than Manfred though.

5madthings · 08/04/2012 14:41

i like it, for the same reason as boxoftricks nice dr in private practise :) its fine depending on your surname :)

oh makes me think of mini coopers as well! but my boys love mini coopers so that could be a bonus for a boy :)

Dreadful IMO. Sorry.

WithACherryOnTop · 08/04/2012 14:46

Thinking about it some more,I think it's a name that would grow on me,if the child suited his name. It has potential.

Manfred is incredibly bad as anything other than a middle name.

LumpyLatimer · 08/04/2012 14:51

this is only permissible if named for the Greatest Man Currently On TV, aka Dr Sheldon Cooper.

Otherwise, NO.

MadameChinLegs · 08/04/2012 14:54

Friends of ours have twins one of whom is called Cooper. I like it, not blown away by it, but when I heard one of them shorten it to Coop, all I could think was Chicken
