Just thought I would put it out there and see how it goes.
Babe due in four days or thereabouts, we already have DS Joseph and DS Dominic and if this one is a Boy going for Fabien (First two have kind of Irish names from DH side and this one can have something Swiss/French from My side) I still have to work on him for number four lol.
Girl name is proving tricky - like Esme but really not sure. [buhmm]

I think you mean Fabian, it's a good name with the right spelling

Jess850 · 07/04/2012 18:20

No, Fabien is the French spelling.

It's got political connotations I think that you might want to be cautious about

(waits for someone more knowledgeable about Irish history to come along)

There is the Fabian Society but on the other hand it means from a bean growing family..not too heavy :-)

I like it. Shortens to Fab! What better name could there be.

Stellan · 07/04/2012 20:53

Likely to be pronounced fab-ee-en instead of fay-bee-un with that spelling. Is that what you intend? If so, go for it. Otherwise, reconsider your choice of spelling. It's pleasant enough but not necessarily one I'd pick with sons called Joseph and Dominic. I'm not sure why but it doesn't seem to fit with those two (but this might be unimportant to you).

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2012 20:57

I think unless you're going to pronounce it in the French way, it should be Fabian.

I really like Fabian.

Like Esme too but you might also like: Hester/ Harriet/ Elise/ Eloise / Isobel / Claudette / Vivienne

gafhyb · 07/04/2012 22:33

I'm afraid I don't really like it. And I think it doesn't quite fit with the other DSs names.

What about

Michael
Patrick
Malachy

For a girl, what about

Elodie
Claudine
Serena

gafhyb · 07/04/2012 22:38

sorry - totally forgot you wanted something French/Swiss for a boy as well, so Malachy and Patrick are out

Jess850 · 08/04/2012 08:49

Thanks for your feedback. It has made me think twice about the spelling/pronunciation issue, French is my preference but we are in Essex lol. I am not fussed about it going with Joseph and Dominic as I did not think those two did but could not imagine it differently now. I like Vivienne but SIL has 'baggsied' it in case she has another Girl one day.
