Okay have been lurking quite a while...no offence but the site faves are not here. Slightly confused as to how everyone calls these names new and outside general culture when there are a million of all these names atm...oops :/

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
babyblabber · 01/04/2012 19:53

my only criticism would be Connor is a very american spelling or a surname spelling, and it 'should' be Conor.

mathanxiety · 01/04/2012 20:37

From your boys' list, I really like Connor, James, Thomas and Sean.
I like Chloe and Gabriella from the girls' names.

Conor or Connor -- neither one is the original Irish Conchubhair so to me it wouldn't really matter whether you used one N or two.

O Conchubhair is transliterated as O'Connor, and the Irish first name Conchubhair is the same as the surname, so being surnamey isn't an issue imo. Irish surnames of the O and Mac varieties all come from first names.

Qu'est-ce que c'est le boeuf? Is the OP actually asking for opinions on her names or what?

LineRunner · 02/04/2012 23:01

Who knows? The actual OP makes no sense to me.

I just like listing names.

Godred
Lagman
Olaf
Magnus

SilkStalkings · 02/04/2012 23:04

Yes that's the fun bit isn't it? I'm feeling French tonight.

D'Artagnan
Hilaire
Hercule
Alphonse

LineRunner · 02/04/2012 23:06

Or Israeli

Avi
Uri
Rami
Tzvika
Oded

OrenishI · 02/04/2012 23:26

I don't understand the question OP. Have you missed out a comma or something Confused

SodoffBaldrick · 03/04/2012 02:01

I think the OP means that we're a bunch of middle class twats and all call our children Tristran and Persephone and Oberon and Araminta, but I can't be sure due to the jumbled nature of the OP...

Who knows. She hasn't bothered to come back to the thread to respond to suggestions, so we may well be left in the dark.

bronze · 03/04/2012 02:06

Oh should I have called my James tallaesan or something similar instead?

sonniebonnie · 03/04/2012 10:28

But what's wrong with calling your children Tristan or Araminta? Thankfully we all have different tastes - how dull would life be if we all chose Jack or Grace... But I too wonder whether the op is for real Hmm.

SilkStalkings · 03/04/2012 10:55

I think OP's point is that this thread doesn't go much on the top 50 names. That'll be because there is nothing to say about them, they are perfectly acceptable but unnoteworthy and difficult to comment upon, other than to say yes I know a lot of those. It would be a very dull thread if people came on asking for opinions on top 50 names - oh wait, is that what she's tried to do?

doctordwt · 03/04/2012 13:32

I think she was trying to be sarcastic at the 'tone' of the baby name threads, but was hobbled somewhat on account of being unable to string a sentence together.

Anyway, names:

Polity
D'Steve
Dragonia
Euthanisia
Flambe
Witchhunt
Frappe
Obbles

LineRunner · 03/04/2012 17:02

Calendula
Delta
Yankee Foxtrot
Teck
Serengeti

LineRunner · 03/04/2012 17:03

I like Witchhunt Euthanisia, doctordwt, but would it go with the surname Geldof?

doctordwt · 03/04/2012 17:11

Heh heh Linerunner

perhaps better with Slump as a mn? Witchhunt Slump Geldof, I know it's a tad overused and everyone seems to be Rose or Grace or Slump these days but I think it works y'know?

Fongule
Tediume
Opine
Tardie
Licky-Anne

LineRunner · 03/04/2012 17:31

Gandalf Slump Geldof has a certain ring to it.

Or maybe the Gandalph spelling is better.

I like names which roll off the tongue.

Jeremiah Zachariah Jackanory Jones is my favourite of all time at the moment Smile

OriginalJamie · 03/04/2012 18:06

Ignore them, they've all got DCs called Theophilus and Patagonia Grin

I like Gabriella very much

Joshua is nice, but Jack is my top choice there

LineRunner · 03/04/2012 18:15

Jackanory is a fabulous name, Tequila.

Actually, so is Tequila.

Jackanory Tequila Sunrise Geldof.

Too 1980s??

TequilaMockinBird · 03/04/2012 20:09

Think I'd spell it Jaqanorie though, makes it sound a bit more cosmopolitan, innit?

Jaqanorie Tequila Wizbit Ross?

LineRunner · 03/04/2012 20:35

Jaqanorie Tequila Daquiri Take-That sounds better, maybe?

doctordwt · 04/04/2012 00:20

Can you put an upside-down exclamation mark in front of Daquiri? Then I think you'll have nailed it

TequilaMockinBird · 04/04/2012 11:16

Oh yes, that looks awesome. Loving the hyphen in there aswell Grin

LineRunner · 04/04/2012 11:48

And so our work here is done. Smile
