Being induced on Monday (!!!!) with DD1 and still have not decided on a girls name. I am not the kind of person who can 'see baby first' as I know that would end up in bub being nameless for weeks and my going back and forth between options. Needs to be decided!

Only names we have managed to shortlist are below. I truly like them all but not sure they have that 'the one' feeling. So suggestions would be wonderful.

Charlotte (all time favourite but really really dont think I can get over the popularity factor)
Camille (Had decided on this one, but now unsure about the pronounciation sounding harsh - kah-MEEL)
Lucia
Abigail
Alicia
Lucy
Felicity

DS is Harry!

I have a Harry and we had Charlotte and Lucy on our list.

We went for Megan in the end.

Good luck for Monday!

I'd ditch Lucia and Alicia - although they are beautiful names - unless you don't mind correcting people who pronounce it wrong. For example, is it loo-CHEE-ah, LOO-sha, loo-SEE-uh or some other pronunciation?

I like Abigail and Lucy. Yes, they are popular but they are, in my opinion, timeless. I don't care for the nickname Abby (which seems to lack the beauty of Abigail) so that would put me off using Abigail. If you're happy with that nickname - or prepared to tell people not to use it - I think it's a very good choice. You can't go wrong with Lucy.

Felicity is very pretty. Fliss is a lovely nickname too - much softer than Flick, which I'm not a fan of! I've only met a couple and they've both been lovely and very striking red heads. Another good choice.

I think Camille does sound harsh in an English accent, which is why I prefer Camilla (Milly is nice to have as a nickname).

Charlotte's my own name and I'm very happy with it! (I'm a Charlotte, not a Charlie or a Lottie, and have never been called anything else.) Not sure what else I can say, really, about it - I recommend it.

I love Alicia. How about Louisa, Erin, Elizabeth, Erica, Natalie, Melissa.....

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 30/03/2012 08:18

If you love Charlotte have a Charlotte. It's a timeless classic name.

EBDteacher · 30/03/2012 08:27

Carlotta?

EBDteacher · 30/03/2012 08:28

Think Lucy goes well with Harry though.

BillyBollyBandy · 30/03/2012 08:28

Camilla or Alice?

I like Abigail, Felicity and Lucy from your list

DoubleGlazing · 30/03/2012 09:39

Abigail or Lucy

mumbaisapphire · 30/03/2012 17:14

Charlotte is gorgeous. Go for it. It's not that popular. The only ones I know are all 30+.

StrawberryMojito · 30/03/2012 17:23

If Charlotte is your favourite, go for that. It's lovely and goes well with Harry.

StrawberryMojito · 30/03/2012 17:24

And I don't think I know of any baby/toddler Charlottes.

oikopolis · 30/03/2012 19:02

Charlotte is really best. If you have a VERY common surname, perhaps go for something else -- but Charlotte is so lovely and goes so well with Harry.

exoticfruits · 30/03/2012 19:09

Charlotte or Lucy.

WhispersOfWickedness · 30/03/2012 19:22

I love Camille Smile
How about Rosa?

SoozyWoozy · 30/03/2012 19:37

I have a Charlotte, she is the only one in her year group, so really not over-used where we are. I always thought she would be Lottie, but nope. She is a Charlotte and quickly corrects anyone who tries to change it. Its only 2 syllables despite having lots of letters, so NNs don't shorten the sound.

We actually have very similar taste in names, nearly all of your names have been on one of my shortlists for 3 DCs, all of which are girls.

Lucia is beautiful, you may be stuck with explaining how to pronounce it, as suggested. I would say it Lu-see-ah. I love Lucy too.

Abigail - I know LOTS of Abigails and they are almost all shortened to Abi / Abbie / Abby. Not a name I would consider.

Alicia - also very pretty, several in our school.

Felicity - this was on our shortlist for DD2 but she was sooooo tiny, the name seemed to big for her. I really didn't like Flick, or Fliss as NNs.

So my biased choice for you is Charlotte :)

barbaraprim · 30/03/2012 19:43

Charlotte or Lucy.

janie2 · 30/03/2012 21:06

I like Charlotte too, don't think it's that popular. What about Amelia? although I think that might be even more popular!

applepieinthesky · 30/03/2012 21:44

Charlotte is lovely. I don't know that many and don't know any under 25.

welovesausagedogs · 30/03/2012 21:49

My favourite from your list is Felicity, i love it. Charlotte is nice but it is soooo popular, i know 4 Charlotte's under the age of 5, you could always go for Lottie as an alternative. Lucy is nice too, but also quite common.

I think Harry and Felicity sound the best together and they are not trying to match to much, both individual yet classic.

joymaker · 30/03/2012 21:51

Abigail, lovely

PullUpAPew · 30/03/2012 21:52

I like Abigail or Felicity. Camille gets a massive thumbs down from me for being harsh-sounding.

Frikadellen · 30/03/2012 21:53

what about Charlotta If your worried about popularity?

However if it is your favourite I would use it.

I love Alicia out of your list and Lucia too

I love Charlotte and have never met one (adult or child!), so not sure about the popularity factor! Also like Abigail a lot.

Nobhead · 30/03/2012 22:14

Abigail would be my choice, not a fan of Charlotte really (sorry) but only because I someone unpleasent called Charlotte. My DS is Sean but he would have been Chloe if he had been a girl. I also love Leah too.
