it's all over the place atm. i predict a large surge of popularity.

i think lots of people think of Clementine as a guilty pleasure, and seem to see Clemency as a less fruit-bowl-y and therefore more useable alternative.

i think it's very pretty but then i like virtue names. DH would turn up his nose though, too unusual for him.

Personally I prefer Clementine. Clemency just seems a bit 'legal', iyswim...

I happen to think it's a beautiful name, but I would - it's mine. There are very few Clemencys my age; I've only come across one or two others and I've always loved how unusual it is. I also regularly get complimented on my name, so I can recommend it, if you're thinking of it.

Very few people know what it means, but it does mean 'mercy' and is sometimes used in a formal legal setting, but that has never bothered me.

I've been trying to force evyone I know in rl and on he to have q dd called Clemency for years. Look at me riding the zeitgeist!

One of my middle names is Clemency and I can't say I like it very much. Partly because it has no nice shortenings. Clem/Clemmie are not very nice
IMO.

don't like it at all, even worse than Clementine, sorry...

For me "clem" means "stuck", not that it matters much in a british environment... but even in English it doesn't sound very pretty.. I like more feminine girls' names.
