We would love a middle name that could reflect a musical connection as a tribute to a beloved Grandfather who is a professional musician.
Does anyone have any good suggestions? We are thinking of Allegra.

weemumbelina :o Accidental!!! Sharp? Flat? Repeat...

I was thinking that there are some beautiful operas you could take inspiration from, OP. What kind of music did your grandfather play?

PercyFilth · 28/03/2012 20:33

Vibrato ... no, maybe not :o

hugeheadofhair · 28/03/2012 20:50

Chorale

meditrina · 28/03/2012 20:53

I don't suppose you're having twins?

Because if you were, you could have Acciaccatura and Appoggiatura; settling for Grace instead just wouldn't have the same impact.

Lexilicious · 28/03/2012 20:58

Tarantella? (nn Tara)
Fantasia?

But seriously, I came on to say Cecilia as someone already said, patron saint of music. And a lovely name in its own right.

octaviarose · 28/03/2012 20:59

Was desperately hopeful for twins at the scan but sadly not this time! But yes meditrina those would be fab names!

Grandfather is a concert pianist so classical really but plays a ridiculous amount of other instruments so not really limited to the classical genre.

You could just raid the Italian language, since those are all the words used to describe the ways the composer intends for the music to be played. But to anyone not in the know, they'd just think you were using a random noun or verb! Grin

Embarrassed face emoticon.
My DD was messing about - I didn't realise she'd actually SENT the message.
I hope you get some inspiration from some of the other lovely suggestions.
(At least my DD didn't come up with Dee.
Or Bea!)
Sorry.

cumbria81 · 29/03/2012 09:42

I am sorry but you can't really call a child Allegra

lancelottie · 29/03/2012 09:46

Helpyourself -- there, there, I really like Cecilia (but not Beyonce with or without the accent. Can't remember how you do those).

lancelottie · 29/03/2012 09:48

Of course you can call a child Allegra! It's a fairly well known and established name.

helpyourself · 29/03/2012 09:52

I copied and pasted it from my hotmail account, where I have a friend called Therese with accents going both ways. Then I had to delete the rest of the name and add Beyonc to it. Hmm

lancelottie · 29/03/2012 09:53

Ah, that's how you do it.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 29/03/2012 09:59

What's wrong with Allegra, cumbria ? Confused

helpyourself · 29/03/2012 09:59
