Whaddya think? Too common?

Grace, Lily and Olivia are ALL very popular. And also very pretty - so up to you how much it matters that everyone else likes them too Smile

I like Anna A LOT. And it's less common. Why not go for Anna Olivia?

sugarcookie5 · 26/03/2012 02:10

I love Lilly, Grace, Olivia

Also Ava, Anna, Sophia and Rose

NadiaWadia · 26/03/2012 02:52

Lily, Olivia and Anna are all lovely names. Lily Anna works well, but Olivia Anna doesn't flow well because you have 2 vowels sounds together, so when you say it it might sound like 'Oliviaranna' IYSWIM.

Positiveplus · 26/03/2012 17:34

Love all the names you mentioned - would personally use Grace as a middle name and the others as first names.
They are all very popular though but if that doesnt bother you, go for it (it wouldnt bother me - Chloe & Sophie on both on our shortlist and they too are in the top 10 girls names)

CaoNiMa · 27/03/2012 08:23

Choose something else! Your daughter won't thank you if she's one of 3 Lilys or Olivias in her class. Which she will be.

Stellan · 28/03/2012 13:23

All lovely names but will you mind your daughter being one of several girls in her class with the same name?

Gingerbreadlatte · 28/03/2012 13:26

Anna Grace is beautiful

MagsAloof · 28/03/2012 13:27

I adore Grace, and despite the fact that it is apparently 'top five', I only know one 7 yr old Grace and one adult Grace. Also only know 2 teenage Lilys, and two Olivias of primary school age.

My DD is 3 and in her nursery the really popular names are Isobel, Eve/Eva, Ella/Elle/Ellie. Not that it matters.

Choose a name because you love it.

crazynannimama · 28/03/2012 13:30

My DD3 is Olivia Grace. Ony one other Olivia in her two-form entry year at primary, and maybe one or two others in her year at a 1500 intake secondary school.

Evie Grace sounds lovely. I was put off Ana because our surname begins with L :S

Ava is another beautiful name but I think it is becoming quite popular at the moment.

Stellan · 28/03/2012 13:46

6,443 baby Lilys in England and Wales in 2010: Lily (4265), Lilly (1516), Lillie (479), Lili (74), Lilli (57), Lilie (20), Lilley (10), Lilee (9), Lillee (6), Lilleigh (4), Lileigh (3)

5,341 Olivias: Olivia (5279), Alivia (49), Elivia (6), Oliviah (4), Olyvia (3)

3,733 Graces: Grace (3722), Grayce (11)

1,107 Annas: Anna (956), Ana (127), Anah (10), Annah (4)

Those numbers might not bother you at all and, if anything, endorse your taste in names but if you're like me and prefer something a little less commonplace, you'd pick something like Fiona (81 babies), Alessandra (25), Isadora (23) or Hilary (19).

I think it depends on what matters to you.

SunflowersSmile · 28/03/2012 14:31

I always worry about names like Grace/ Patience / Clemency [which I love], Faith etc as I picture a tantruming toddler or grumpy child or teenager Not living up to their name!

MoonHare · 28/03/2012 14:40

Like Olivia best and considering its status in the top 10 I personally do not knowof a single Olivia, non at my daughter's pre school and none at any of the groups I take our 1yr old to.

welovesausagedogs · 28/03/2012 16:14

I like Lily, you could always combine middle and first too, e.g. Lillianna

LeeCoakley · 28/03/2012 16:17

I was going to say the same! Lillianna Grace. There. Sorted.

PercyFilth · 28/03/2012 18:14

They're all everywhere.

Here's a 'virtue' name that's way down in the 800s on the list, and is very usable - Mercy

MordecaiAndTheRigbys · 28/03/2012 20:42

Thanks for al the thoughts! Am in Ireland and some of those names are not common in my sons school, Irish school though. I do like lilyAnna !

SodoffBaldrick · 28/03/2012 20:53

Nice names, but dull now through pure overuse.

The fact that you're in Ireland and there may not be as many of them is slightly irrelevant - they're still very much of this era and will date, in the way all the popular names from our generation sound dull and dated now.

Even though their proliferation may have been more or less in certain areas/regions/countries compared with others.

kerala · 28/03/2012 22:26

I would go back to the drawing board. All those names are super popular so for me have totally lost any appeal they once had. They may be pretty but utterly yawnsome. There are lots of great names out there outside the top ten.

pinkandsparklytoo · 28/03/2012 22:44

I vote Liliana too. Or maybe even Lillian?
