I like Cora. Clea and Clea are very similar and Joanie just reminds me of the song.

Pitmountainpony · 25/03/2012 18:47

Ah yes two clea s......
Thanks .....I was thinking coralie could be Cora for short when we or baby fancies that......I like coralie but have never. Et one....very popular in Quebec apparently.

Marnie and Joanie - They both sound very American, quite nice but i'd have them as nicknames to a longer name.
Cora - Very nice, my favorite. Feminine but not frilly
Coralie - Is ok, to me this is a pretty and girly name but a bit cutesy.
Clea - I don't like it v much, sounds like Clear.
Lucille - It's too country music imo.

BenderBendingRodriguez · 25/03/2012 18:52

love marnie, cora and coralie. i have met a couple of the latter, both at the same wedding in fact!

IHeartKingThistle · 25/03/2012 18:53

Coralie is gorgeous.

oikopolis · 25/03/2012 18:56

Marnie - no
Cora - lovely
Coralie - beautiful
Clea - no
Lucille - no
Joanie - no. Joni is OK, but still not great

PastGrace · 25/03/2012 18:58

I love Cora and Coralie.

One of my friends is very reserved and quiet, apart from after a few drinks - for one reason or another when she has been drinking she is known as Joanie, so that would be out for me for that reason.

I think Clea would have a life of saying "no, not Cleo, CleA".
Marnie is very sweet, but I can't imagine a grown up Marnie.
Lucille... would you pronounce it "Lucy", or "Loose-eel". I think you risk people using the other one, whichever way you choose, so for me that would be a reason not to pick it.

GreenEyedMunster · 25/03/2012 19:11

Cora and coralie.

The rest are just a bit meh

Pitmountainpony · 25/03/2012 19:20

Thanks guys...yes the popular choice was our fave too. But just wondering if we go with coralie we can just use Cora too....I know we can do what we want.....but just wodi g if we just go with Cora.....I think this will become more popular due to downtown abbey perhaps.

Marnie - Dislike. Reminds me of Marmite? Mamie might be a nice alternative (may-mee).
Cora - Like.
Coralie - Like although I prefer the simplicity of Cora.
Clea - Like but I prefer Cleo or Thea.
Lucille - Sounds a bit dated - prefer Lucy!
Joanie - As a nickname for Joan, fine; spelled Joni as a homage to Ms Mitchell, fine if that's your thing.

SilkStalkings · 25/03/2012 20:34

Like: Cora / Coralie / Clea / Lucille Cleo would also be nice. If you go with Coralie you can buy her antique coral jewellery one day .
Marnie and Joanie sound a little diminutive in some way, not high enough expectations. Conjures up irritating whiney women for some reason.

Sweekune · 25/03/2012 20:36

I like Coralie and Clea. Lovely names :)

mummybare · 27/03/2012 17:57

Love Lucille, quite like Cora. Joanie makes me think of Happy Days, but can't work out if that's a good or bad thing... :o

mumbaisapphire · 27/03/2012 18:06

Marnie - just does nothing for me.
Cora - marginally better, but still doesn't bowl me over.
Coralie - it's ok, think I prefer Coraline though
Clea - doesn't look complete, Cleo is nice. For some reason Clea makes me think clitoris. Sorry.
Lucille - my least favourite version of Lucy. Prefer Lucy, Lucia or Lucinda ahead of Lucille.
Joanie - reminds me of Happy Days. I think Ritchie's younger sister was Joanie. Her boyfriend was Chachi. I really dislike Joan, sounds like one big groan, and adding an 'ie' on the end only mildly makes it better.

Sorry, I realise I have been entirely unhelpful. I would pick Coralie if these are the only choices.

DoubleGlazing · 27/03/2012 20:42

Marnie - sounds American to me for some reason. Nice as a nickname (it's derived from Marina). Miranda and Miriam sounds stronger IMHO
Cora - apple corer. Much prefer Cara or Carina
Coralie - pretty
Clea - sounds unfinished, nickname for Cleopatra? How about Cassie (Cassandra?) or Cassia?
Lucille - loose eel. Prefer Lucy or Lucia
Joanie - nice as nickname for Joan

FondleWithCare · 28/03/2012 10:52

Marnie - not as a full name, maybe Marina?
Cora - very pretty, I like this
Coralie - also very pretty and you can use Cora anyway
Clea - I don't like this, it sounds like clear
Lucille - I like this too
Joanie -as a nickname only but I don't like the name Joan

MagsAloof · 28/03/2012 11:23

I adore Cora (so simple, yet classy) and Lucille (beautiful, feminine name and far superior to Lucy, imo).

Coralie is also lovely. Have you considered Rosalie (love this).

Not so keen on Clea. I like Cleo and Thea, though Smile

Joanie is a bit twee for my tastes.

Marnie is horrid, sorry.
