hiya Smile

just wondering if anyone has any good ideas, for a boy or a girl. We're not being pretentious, DP is half Ukrainian and surname is Ukrainian so it would be nice to have some reference to his heritage.

I'm boring and English so we'll probably go with a bit of both. There are lists on the web but I thought I'd ask here as we can't be alone, and it'd be nice to know what's popular at the moment.

Thankyou

I like Andriy, Pavlo and Ivan

Alexei for a boy,Anoushka for a girl.

I like Andriy and Ivan....hmmm. Anoushka is lovely, too.

what about Valentina...or Vasylyna. Are they very unusual? I can't pronounce a lot of the ones I've seen.

Valentina is so pretty & common also in Spain, Italy & South America

Salma Hayek & the Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima both have a Valentina

Daya · 24/03/2012 17:27

I love Valentina - but wary of the nicknames... Val or Tina not great imo.

Lara / Larissa

Katerina

Anastasia

Tatiana

It depends on how much you want it to work easily in English and Ukrainian.

Flightty · 24/03/2012 17:29

Oh that's a great list, thankyou very much Smile

Lots of good ones on there.

Good point about nicknames, I was thinking though, an English first name and something in the middle so it wouldn't necessarily be shortened, it would just be a middle name iyswim.

Well it has only to work in English really, it's more a nod of respect as we don't have a lot of contact with the family over there, not like we were going to visit an awful lot or anything.

I didn't know Lara/Larissa was actually from that part of the world. That's a name that's dear to me.
