One syllable girls names

My friend is expecting twin girls. She and her DH have decided on first and middle names, more or less, but they want to add a second middle name.

The names they are currently leaning towards (I have her permission to post these) are Harriet Rosalind and Imogen Jessica. They have a few 'reserves' in case one or neither of them look like a Harriet or an Imogen, which are along similar lines: Evelyn, Louisa, Georgina and I think Marianne.

What they want is a single-syllable name as the second MN. She and I spent yesterday evening trying to think of as many as we could for her to discuss with her DH. I mentioned the Power of Mumsnet and she asked me to canvass for ideas here too (I should mention she's blind, which is why she isn't posting herself).

They want one syllable, preferably long vowel sound; their surname is two syllables and starts with B so ideally no B names and nothing too cutesy so no Beas or Boos. Theyw ould consider something a little quirky though if it fits the other criteria.

We've come up with Hope, Jane, Clare, Faye, Pearl, Grace and a few others but need more inspiration - can you help?

Your friend has chosen lovely names and I think they would be quite complete as they are. It seems to me that there's no point in struggling to find additional names if there's not a couple that stand out to them.

You could suggest to them that they look to family names if they are keen on an additional middle name or, perhaps, virtue/spiritual names (e.g. Hope or Joy; I was at university with a lovely girl named Promise, for example, which I think is lovely).

For what it's worth, I think I prefer Harriet Jessica and Imogen Rosalind (assuming the surname doesn't end in a strong 'n' or 'nd' sound as well).

Prefer Harriet and Rosalind (both gorgeous) to Imogen or Jessica (though both ok).

Can't think of many Stellan hasn't covered... maybe Elle, Jean, Bree, Wynne?

I'm also of the opinion that adding unnecessary second middle names when not to honour family members or whatever is a bit pointless. They've already picked nice names.

Also tend to agree. My partner has three first names but it's a family tradition on his mother's side. We have a DD with two first names, am pregnant with our second and if it's a boy he will have three names as one will be a family name. But if it's a girl, she'll only have two. Hmm, sounds a bit sexist to me now I see it written down! :)

If they really want the third name, I think Grace, Rose, Kate, May go with both twins names.

I think Fay! ....cos that's my name and I love it Grin

my dd has a long first name (Georgina) and two middle names (emily diana) and she says she wishes she just had one as it's a pain when filling in forms etc. I think she often (unless it's something vital) just uses the first mn whenever she can get away with it.

FondleWithCare · 22/03/2012 18:05

Anne, May, Claire, Rose, Joy, Skye, Brooke, Lynne, Jade.

I have to agree that she doesn't really need a second middle name as well, sorry.

check this out

I think if they could come up with a short family name it would be more special for them rather than just use a random name esp if none are coming to mind.

Fireandashes · 23/03/2012 17:54

Loveisagirl... That's exactly why they're looking for a third name - they're son has a first name, middle name and his mum's maiden name (which happens to be a one-syllable boy's name and they want their daughters to have the same number of names.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've fed them back to friend and her DH and at the moment they're leaning towards Fleur and Skye.
