Curious to know your thoughts on Pollyanna

Would be with a one syllable surname (should I ever get pregnant.... grrrrr)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I like it. :)

craigslittleangel · 19/03/2012 20:53

Right. So one of my DD middle name is Polly. My mum insists on telling everyone its Pollyanna because she loved the book and film/TV series. (I did as well but she is named after a family member on OH side.)

I think its a lovely name, but I'm sure people will think its a little old fashioned. To hell with them. If it suits her when she comes, why not?

(My LO's over middle name is Dorotheia. Clearly I love this style of name.)

Too twee, sorry. Anna by itself is fine :)

Rhubarbgarden · 20/03/2012 07:26

Sickly.

manicinsomniac · 20/03/2012 09:36

I really wouldn't personally. It's fine as a name but the associations are too much.

squoosh · 20/03/2012 10:08

I would only approve if you could guarantee she'd turn out to be a grump. Oh the fun she'd have not playing the Glad Game.

TheCunningStunt · 20/03/2012 10:10

Nope

bringbacksideburns · 20/03/2012 10:14

Polly is alright. Not Pollyanna though. Too twee.

I'm a fan of P.J. Harvey Grin

Montsti · 20/03/2012 11:26

I love it! It can be shortened to Polly or Anna so gives you options if you want them...

Good luck!

Nyac · 20/03/2012 11:28

Awful. Don't saddle your little girl with a name like that. Pick another literary heroine.

Pooka · 20/03/2012 11:32

Bit sickly. Makes me think of bonnie Langford (which is daft since she didn't play pollyanna - was Hayley mills iirc).
