Hi :)
Long time lurker first time poster.

We have decided on Abigail for a girls name (due 06/04) for our yellow bump.
We would like the name Amber as a middle name for sentimental reasons but not sure whether it looks too odd?
What do you think?

Hi and welcome!! Smile

Love the names Abigail and Amber though personally dont do alliteration.
However, I think if you want those names then go for it - they dont sound / look too odd together.
Or maybe you could add in another middle name to seperate the 'A's a little bit, ie. Abigail May Amber or Abigail Rose Amber

Good luck!!

Nothing wrong with a bit of alliteration.

I'm Lorna Louise and my sister is Jessica Jane - I'm going to stick with it when naming my kids but it's difficult to make it sound good!
My Mum's alternative name was Emily Elizabeth.

I think it's fine Smile

I don't think it's odd at all. First thing i thought was A.A Milne author of Winnie the Pooh! Go for it, both lovely names Smile

Hasn't done A A Gill any harm. Or e e cummings. Grin

Do it. DD is 18 months now, we spent a long time choosing the perfect middle name for her, and I think the only 2 times we have ever used it so far was when we registered her birth and when we applied for her passport. Apart from when she is first born, no one will ever ask what her middle name is - how often do you use or say your middle name?
So anyway, what I am trying to say, is don't worry at all about the alliteration, it really doesn't matter (although if the initials spell something rude, well that's a different matter!)

We have Hattie Hope and Felicity Faith. Our DS is Dexter Miles though! Alliteration seems to suit girls more.

Your choice sound lovely.

startail · 19/03/2012 22:57

Lovely, go for it.

OlympicEater · 19/03/2012 23:00

Rolls off the tongue easier if it is a vowel IMO when reading initials, so sounds fine to me

NoHunIntended · 19/03/2012 23:45

Love it! My name is Abigail Alice, btw! I like the alliteration! :)

BikeRunSki · 19/03/2012 23:47

It's fine. DD is Amy Alice.

Great, thanks for the feedback. Everything starts to sound mashed in your head when you say things over and over! :-)

Abigail and Amber are lovely names.

Have you read the story of Abigail in the Bible? She was a clever woman who acted quickly to avert danger! (1 Samuel 25)

I love having two names with the same letter - it always make me think of the poet e. e. cummings.

He wrote a lovely poem containing the line - "Nobody, not even the rain has such small hands as you."

Sorry, long-winded way of saying, yes, love alliteration because of e. e. cummings!

I like it! go for Abigail Amber, it sounds cute! Might not work with all names but I think this one does! Congratulations BTW Grin
