There weren't any when I named ds it! Seems to be more popular, though It may be demographic. What about Hector? or Hugo.

Must say I did get a few Hmm looks at first. Funny how names change over the years.

dreamingofsun · 17/03/2012 18:34

as someone who spent years choosing a name, in part because it wasn't that popular, and then have godparents copy it...i'd just go for what you like. ok so it might be popular...but at least you like it

sonniebonnie · 17/03/2012 21:55

There are 4 Harrys in our Beavers group, two of which share the same surname!!

WinkyWinkola · 18/03/2012 07:34

Henry is a great name though.

Hugo is nice too. Felix? Jasper? Douglas? I love Douglas but dh won't have it.

TessTosterone · 18/03/2012 09:18

I think it's about to take off. A few people I have spoken to who would have considered harry are now going for Henry as a less popular option.

ahhhhhpushit · 18/03/2012 09:23

Felix is on our list too but think we will end up going for Tobias/Toby.

sailorsgal · 18/03/2012 10:53

Toby is great and very underused. Smile

Bluestocking · 18/03/2012 11:12

Does it really matter? Are they all within your extended family or close friendship group? I think Henry's a lovely name!

FilterCoffee · 18/03/2012 17:39

Henry is much nicer than Toby - use it anyway! :)

RemainsOfTheDay · 20/03/2012 13:31

Henry is dull. There are 4 in my baby group.

Toby looks like you have a bit more imagination IMO.

sailorsgal · 20/03/2012 13:34

Dull. Hmm

Bit harsh.

LadyWord · 20/03/2012 13:40

Is anyone else surrounded by Orlas? Orlas everywhere you look around here.

BonzoDooDah · 20/03/2012 13:41

There are 3 Toby's in my friend's boy's class of 20 ....

sailorsgal · 20/03/2012 13:43

LadyWord I don't know of any Orlas but lots of Evies, Islas, Amelias. Grin

LadyWord · 20/03/2012 14:00

Yes to Eves/Evies, also Maias/Mayas/Mias, and little boys called Alex (to the extent that when I can't remember someone's brother's/son's name I tend to guess Alex and am usually right...)

When I was about 25 (i.e. 10 years before I had DC) I always loved the name Eve and planned to use it, I thought it was so unusual and elegant Confused. I still sort of like it but would feel just SO boring if I used it now.

sailorsgal · 20/03/2012 14:09

I never thought in a million years that I would love the name Rupert but I now think its fab.

EllenParsons · 20/03/2012 15:07

I love Henry but over the last 2 or 3 years I have noticed it getting really popular. Popularity doesn't really put me off because it's classic not faddy, but I have started to get a bit bored of it due to over exposure :(

Dillydollydaydream · 22/03/2012 11:59

I like the name Henry. I only know one though and he is 3. Know lots of Harry's though.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/03/2012 12:50

Only know one Orla and she is 8, don't know of any baby Henrys around here either. Can't move for Williams and Olivers though.

If you like it then use it. Toby is Ok.

tummytickler · 22/03/2012 18:58

I know lots of Orla's. They seem to be everywhere. All under 4/5. I don't know too many Henry's under 10 though. It is such a lovely classic name.

survivingspring · 23/03/2012 10:04

Henry is v popular at our school - probably the most popular boys name after Charlie.

It shouldn't matter if you really like it. I think it's a good solid name.

I love Felix and don't know of any personally so probably a very good choice if you want something less popular. Not sure about Toby - makes me think of a Toby Jug Confused

ItWasThePenguins · 23/03/2012 10:14

No Henry but lots of Oscar and Isaac round here.

I think Henry is lovely.

NagoosBeenCleaningWindows · 23/03/2012 10:29

Felix is 'coming up' I think, and will get more popular.

I really don't like Henry

ISpyPlumPie · 24/03/2012 19:00

Only come across one round here, absolutely loads of Harrys though. It is a name I'd potentially consider - it was my greatgrandad's name, (although apparently he was always called Harry) and I like names with family connections. We have a Henry hoover though and I think it's pretty well taken the name in our house as far as DS is concerned Grin. Disclaimer- I am aware this is possibly the lamest reason ever given on Mumsnet for not using a name!
