Bump is currently called Frida. Not really thought of it for Dd but lots of people have commented that they like it. What do you think?
Thank you for your input!

Not keen personally. Is Friday another choice?

Bandita · 08/03/2012 20:03

Should say Frida- obviously not Friday. B... autocorrect.

Personally I don't really like it, sorry. Not keen on the similar-sounding Freya either. I guess the nearest one I like is Frances, which you may or may not like! Just go for what you like yourself :)

boyfallingoutofthesky · 08/03/2012 20:22

I really lke Frieda, spelt like that or Freda (not Frida, which makes me think fridge or frigid, but maybe that is just me!)

Bandita · 08/03/2012 20:25

No need to be sorry. As I said, it wasn't on our list but we have become used to it. I think DP quite likes it now....

My mum is Freda! Grin

rachel234 · 08/03/2012 22:35

I don't like Frida/Frieda, but what does matter what we (a random group of internetters) like. It is your baby and you've got to love your name choice. In fact, if you choose a name everyone loves, chances are it will be very popular and widely used.

winkle2 · 08/03/2012 22:40

whilst reading this the John Freida came on! Perhaps its a sign!

birdofthenorth · 08/03/2012 22:47

It was too aged relatives names but it could grow on me for this generation. Frida Pinto helps ip the cool factor considerably! I'd spell it Frieda I think though

Oubliette0292 · 08/03/2012 23:25

Actually I quite like Frieda.

mathanxiety · 09/03/2012 04:38

I love it no matter how you spell it. A fabulous name.

mathanxiety · 09/03/2012 04:39

Actually I think it needs the I, so Frida or Frieda, and not Freda.

Bobbish · 09/03/2012 04:44

My daughter's middle name is Freda named after my Grandma. I was keen on it for a first name but DH wasn't.

AnEcumenicalMatter · 09/03/2012 05:00

I know a Frances who is known as Freda. But I prefer the Frieda spelling.

Bandita · 09/03/2012 06:37

Thank you everyone so far. Many interesting answers- in particular regarding the spelling.

My dd's middle name is Frieda after one of my grandmothers. So I prefer it with the ie spelling. I've noticed that people do spell it in different ways (we live in Canada at the moment and dd's visas have had it spelled Freda, Frieda and Freida - a bit strange since the information is supposed to be taken from our passports)

marshmallowpies · 09/03/2012 08:50

Definitely like it. Really lovely name, however it's spelled, although I'd veer away from using 'Freda', putting the 'i' in makes it more obvious how it ought to be pronounced, and looks a bit prettier too, I think.

GavisonandOn · 09/03/2012 11:22

I'm not madly keen on Freda/Freida, I'm afraid.

abbypumpkin · 09/03/2012 21:01

Not my taste but it is really hard not to become attached to the nn you give the bump. With dd1 we nn my bump buffy. As we got closer to birth we talked seriousl about calling her buffy. Although neither of us actually liked the name we had gotten so used to it and it just felt right.
We didn't call her buffy but this time we tried to come up with a nn that isn't actually a name

Mrsmonkfish · 09/03/2012 21:04

I love it however you want to spell it. I think Frieda is nicest and most "European"

JollySergeantJackrum · 09/03/2012 21:08

Our dinner lady was called Freda. She was terrifying.

But actually, I think it's a great name for a girl :)

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 11/03/2012 08:47

Frieda is nice! |Just don't call her Friday :)

chaya5738 · 15/03/2012 20:23

It is my daughter's name. I love it and we get lots of compliments. We spell it Frida (after Frida Kahlo)
