Caspian.

Is it a bit silly? I sort of love it. I was always a Narnia fan. Too fanciful for an actual child?

Can't make my mind up. I quite like it because it is unusual, but can't imagine my DD every having a friend called Caspian.
She does have one called Kacper although it's pronounced Casper.
IIRC, you are abroad, will you stay overseas or come back to the UK?

Psammead · 05/03/2012 11:29

Staying put. Caspar is relatively common here, Cassius less so. Those are the names I can think of which are most similar to Caspian.

I think it would work in Germany, but it would be a bit unusual. I've never heard it here.

Cassian would be better- less Narnia

Psammead · 05/03/2012 11:35

Ooh, Cassian is nice, too. Thank you for that!

Although is it Cass-ian or Cashun in pronunciation?

I love it.It's a great name and on my list when I get around to having dcs.

I think of the sea before the book though.

ripsishere · 05/03/2012 12:01

I would say Cass-ian rather than Cashun.
If you are staying put, you don't need to explain your perverse English ideas.

BoomOoYattaTaTa · 05/03/2012 12:12

Cassian and Cashun (esp Cassian) are lovely imho . Not heard of them before, but they're unusual without being off the wallSmile

I prefer Cassian if he's going to spend any time in the UK. Caspian is lovely, but it does 'announce itself' in a particular way. A lot to live up to, and I think some might find it pretentious. Like someone I know called Octavius - I love the name but it does conjure up a certain image!

AlmaMartyr · 05/03/2012 12:36

Oh, both Caspian and Cassian are gorgeous names. Caspian was on our list for DS, but we know a Casper and thought it might be too similar.

BaronessBomburst · 05/03/2012 12:46

I think that if you're staying put, Caspian will work fine. I'm in NL and it would work here too. I prefer it to Casper (too popular over here) and I can't seem to get my head round Cassian.

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 05/03/2012 12:51

I love Caspian, Casper and Cassius. I think Caspian is my fave, nn Cass is nice as well.

I love Cassius, but I hate the meaning: hollow, empty, vain. Caspian, I really like. I tend not to care about being fanciful though.

CecilyP · 09/03/2012 22:19

I like it. Unusual, but by no means too fanciful.

mummybare · 09/03/2012 22:28

Love it! And Casper and Cassius. Not sure about Cassian, but possibly only because I've never heard it before. Cas/Cass is very cool too.
