How popular is Phoebe? How many are there likely to be in year groups at school?

DH and I found out we are expecting a girl on Friday so we're narrowing down our name choices. We've both added suggestions to the shortlist but the only name we both love (rather then just like) is Phoebe. As it is in the top 30 I wondered how many Phoebe's are likely to be in a year group at school. My own name (Emma) was extremely popular in the 80s and there were 4 of us in both my primary & secondary year groups which drove me mad. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know 2, a 2 yr old and 9 yr old. Feebs is a definate possibility for a nickname though (Sussex and Kent areas)

I have never known a single Phoebe in my entire life, apart from a small dog who was named after a ship. I grew up in North London and am now living in Hertfordshire. In nearly eight years of trooping to toddler groups, nurseries, schools and parties, I've still never come across one! I'm gobsmacked to hear that it's in the top 30, TBH. Shock

Thank you for your replies everyone. Anonymumous your reply was particularly surprising. The name doesn't seem to be as popular as I thought it would be given it's in the top 30.

My DD is Phoebe. She's 10. She's the only one in her class and year group in school. I think there might be another one in a different year now but until recently she's been the only one in school. We are in what is considered to be a middle class area.

She does get called Phoebes (Feebs) by her peers sometimes but doesn't mind a bit. She also loves the fact that she shares a name with Phoebe from Friends. I was cautious about using the name for her due to its popularity but it's always been one of my favourite names for years, before it became popular, so went for it anyway. She loves it.
