I have a yellow bump and am trying to avoid the baby-with-no-name we had for DS who remained nameless for quite a few days Blush

Boys names seem either uber fancy/poncy or totally bland and forgettable. I don't like any arrggghhh - from what I have seen this is not a unique problem!

Anyway, if bump is a girl it will be Charis Natasha and that is totally decided as we wanted that for dc1 who turned out to be a boy and we haven't gone off it in 2 years!

So what would you lovely people think might go with that name? I need some mn inspiration!

Many thanks in advance. Grin

What is DS called?

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 11/02/2012 14:24

Is Charis prounounced like Carys? Or with a 'ch' like church? Confused

browneyesblue · 11/02/2012 14:33

Ethan (first name that popped into my head when I read thread title)

Unnamed it is pronounced hard C like Carys - same name really just Greek spelling.

Thanks browneyesblue I quite like that - will add it to list and run it past DH - he's a picky so-and-so though. He even vetoed Bruce can you imagine that!!? Wink

You probably should be aware that Charis might bring connotations with, well, pot...

See number 3 on this list..

I only mentioned it as a few years ago, we happened soon a little Charis who raised lots of eyebrows and giggles among the adults. They pronounced the "Ch" in her name though, so you should avoid that scenario with a hard C pronunciation anyway.

SLVC · 12/02/2012 12:25

As it goes though, I think actually thought Charis (even with a Ch) was a pretty name!

Empathylass · 12/02/2012 12:30

Ah I see, fair play. I haven't come across the hash reference myself. It'll probably turn out a boy anyway! Just to fox us. Wink

HW about Cassius/Cass for a boy? Sounds similar to Charis/Carys, and are both very cool IMO..

Empathylass · 12/02/2012 13:09

Ooooo Cassius - I quite like that actually! Cassius.

Righto - while you're on a roll... middle name to go with? Grin

It does mean vain and conceited though.... still since when does the average brit choose a name for meaning? hmmm...

Empathylass · 12/02/2012 13:11

I do like the sound though. the child would make the name their own anyway...

Don't think meanings mean anything do they?

How about..

Cassius Nathaniel
Cassius Gabriel
Cassius James
Cassius Felix
Cassius William

Noooo Jululu I meant that is pronounced very similarly to Carys. I haven't just taken a welsh name and given it a Greek spelling. It is Greek for Grace in terms of meaning but was originally inspired by a particular lady I hold in high esteem who has the name.
