What do you think - top of the list for dd3?

I really like the name - I'd perhaps shorten it to Belle around the house.

MarieLloyd · 09/02/2012 15:03

No. Sorry. I love bluebells, bu as a name it is just frilly and silly.

lisaro · 09/02/2012 15:07

No, it's a bit overdone. And not a name for an adult, definitely.

ShowOfUmblestAnds · 09/02/2012 15:10

One of my most favourite people in the whole world has a Bluebell. I met her on MN. And her Bluebell is beautiful and suits her name perfectly. It's sweet. And you can use Belle/Bella/Blue as nns. All v pretty too.

mamalovebird · 09/02/2012 15:12

I think it's lovely. Very pretty.

hayleymama · 09/02/2012 15:37

Umm bit confused now but think we're gonna go for it is going to be like marmite isn't it Smile

Oh god, no, don't call her marmite Grin

For a boy maybe...

Stellan · 09/02/2012 16:32

I think it is a lovely and whimsical for your little girl but I can't imagine taking anyone seriously as an adult with this name. By all means, use it as a nickname or give it to your daughter as a middle name but do give her the option of using a more conventional/serious/sensible name. Can't imagine a Dr Bluebell, for example, at all.

LaFilleSurLePont · 09/02/2012 16:57

Awful. I cannot imagine being an adult Bluebell. I'd cringe every time I had to introduce myself.

You could possibly make it work as a middle name, but certainly not as a first.

Pancakeflipper · 09/02/2012 17:59

I had a baby calf called Bluebell and my aunty called her first car Bluebell.

Might be ok for a curly haired sweet smiling little girl. Not a good name for a woman in her 40's over 5ft 9inches tall, over a size 16 with a foghorn voice.

Littlefish · 09/02/2012 18:01

I know one child called bluebell and one dog!

mumofjust1 · 09/02/2012 18:04

No, I don't like it personally, but it's your decision.

Not sure how much your dd will thank you for it in the future.....

TheMouseRanUpTheClock · 09/02/2012 18:06

Beautiful name, and I like Belle also.

winkle2 · 10/02/2012 12:30

I like it.

But I agree with an adult Bluebell not sounding right. But then she could shorten to Blue or Belle?

seeker · 10/02/2012 12:36

There are "marker" warning posts on a name thread which means that th name is a non -goer and there hqve already been two on this one. "Sweet and pretty for a littl girl"- maybe, but she"ll be a little girl for maybe 10 years out of her 85, and "are you brave enough?" it's not you who has to be brave- all you hqve to do is tell the registrar! It's the owner of the name who has to go throughnlif dealing with the fallout.

It's an absolutely fantastic name, my DD is called Bluebell and everyone we meet comments on what a beautiful name she has, we've never had a negative comment. I chose it because they are my favourite flowers and I love flower names Grin

FetaCheeny · 10/02/2012 19:42

I love it!! And if she isn't girly she can be Blue/Blu, which sounds pretty cool!

Purplelooby · 10/02/2012 20:41

It's adorable - I would add it to my list but DH says no :(

beatricequimby · 10/02/2012 20:48

It might be fine for a little girl but if she is a self-conscious teenager its just going to be a massive embarrassment to her.

beatricequimby · 10/02/2012 20:49

Sorry Barnowl, I had missed your post otherwise I wouldn't have posted that.

maddiemostmerry · 10/02/2012 20:51

Bluebell is a lovely flower.

Sadly since Geri H used the name it has become quite popular round here and is often used in a " Bluebell get here you f**cking defiant little cow" kind of way. Said parent has croydon facelift and is day glo orange.

I'm sorry. Hopefully you don't live "dahn sarf" so will never hear it used that way.

OttoRose · 10/02/2012 21:04

Bluebell = Halliwell. Sorry.

barnowl · 11/02/2012 11:54

I had no idea Geri H had used it when I named my DD and I had it on my list long before she used it but I had boys 1st. I don't see why people seem to dislike this flower name more than other flower names. There are loads of people across all generations called Poppy, Daisy, Lilly, Iris, Hyacinth, Fern, Holly, etc which don't seem to get the same negative reactions.

sparkle12mar08 · 11/02/2012 11:59

Absolutely awful, sorry. Would make me look twice at the parents.
