If I have a DD2 I'm mulling over Jude for a girl, full name Judith Jean after two much loved relatives. Is this gorgeous granny chic, or have I lost the plot?!

Jeannie Jude?

PercyFilth · 08/02/2012 09:10

Jude is, and always has been afaik, a man's name. (Disciple, saint, Jude the Obscure, Hey Jude etc). It's OK as a casual shortening for Judith, but Judy is nicer and more feminine.

Anyway I think Judith is a lovely name and not yet as trendy as, say, Edith; and I also like Jean a lot. Go for it!

Lovely. Jean much better than Joan.

If you fear the granny chic, how about Judith Josie / Judith Josephine?

whackamole · 08/02/2012 14:44

I don't like either sorry.

Isn´t a nn more likely to be "JJ"?

birdofthenorth · 08/02/2012 23:56

JJ wouldn't bother me for a tot or teen -it's quite cute in fact- but I wouldn't chose it for a CV header for an adult, for example!

I don't like Judith at all - there is something...austere about it.

RealLifeIsForWimps · 11/02/2012 06:14

I like Jean. It's kind of retro plus I know 2 adult Jean's and they are both awesome.

sparkle12mar08 · 11/02/2012 12:03

Judith all the way, lovely lovely name. Jean - meh, not that fussed, nice enough I supose, but given that it's a family name and used in the middle, then yes, I think the whole things goes quite nicely.

pilates · 11/02/2012 15:09

Both horrible sorry.

I would find it hard to use one for a middle name too.
