I don't like Verity at all, but the others are all nice.

ComposHat · 04/02/2012 07:25

A nice collection of names, l of them sound nice.

Emily and Penelope sounds a bit of a mouthful and doesn't really scan.

Felicity I like best of all, not least because there is a great Orange Juice song called Felicity.

MaggieAtwood · 04/02/2012 09:27

Penelope, Felicity and Verity - all lovely but I would avoid as they sound too rhymey (is that even a word?) with Emily.

Elizabeth - are you ok with another E name?

So, by a process of elimination I would choose Susannah. Emily and Susannah both have a timeless feel and complement each other very well.

I think Verity Brown sounds great, and I know a lovely Vez.

Think Penny Brown or Liz Brown are a bit Hmm

ComposHat · 04/02/2012 11:09

Penny Brown sounds like a rare stamp.

ScoutJemAndBoo · 04/02/2012 11:13

Our surname is Brown and baby will have a sibling called Emily.

Penelope love this and its short forms
Felicity but fussy but okay
Elizabeth (Libby) timeless
Verity don.t like
Susannah but too 70s, but still a nice name

pilates · 04/02/2012 12:56

Elizabeth is my fav, all the nicknames you can have are nice too.

LouMacca · 04/02/2012 13:28

Penelope - like this, love Penny
Felicity - ok
Elizabeth (Betsy/Libby/Beth) - my fave of the 5
Verity - No
Susannah - don't think it sits well with Emily

SantaLucia · 04/02/2012 15:03

Really useful feedback - thanks so much everyone. Think we have narrowed it down to Felicity or Suzannah. Will probably change our minds when we meet baby Brown.

I love Elizabeth. I don't think your baby's name has to go with your dd's name.

Letchladee · 04/02/2012 15:49

I like most of your names - three of them were on our shortlist, so you must have great taste Grin.

Penelope. This, I'm not so keen on. Just sounds a bit too try hard posh for me. I do like Penny, but not with Penelope as a full name.
Felicity. Love. It was on our shortlist, but eventually discarded because I didn't like the nicknames of Fliss or Flick.
Elizabeth - Adore, but again we eventually discarded it because I really hate the nicknames Liz and Lizzie [shudder]. It would be my luck that my DD would choose the nickname I hate (as I have done to my mother Grin).
Verity - Sorry, just not keen. Its nowhere near as pretty / nice as the other names you have picked
Susannah - Adore. Really nice name and love Susie as a cute nickname for a little one with Susannah being a bit more grown up. It ended up being a middle name for us as I didn't want the child to possibly be called Sue.

Some lovely names there, good luck!

ellesabe · 04/02/2012 17:11

Felicity or Verity

reallacecurtains · 06/02/2012 02:12

Penelope with Nell as a nn the loveliest by far, would choose for a (at this stage extremely) hypothetical dd3

Know a fab Verity

Like them all but Suzannah the least - a tad 80s to my ear

Good luck!

NadiaWadia · 06/02/2012 02:19

1, Susannah. Gorgeous name!

  1. Elizabeth. Nice, classic.
  1. Felicity. pretty. Maybe slightly posh?

4/5 Penelope/Verity. Not overkeen.

mathanxiety · 06/02/2012 02:25

Some lovely names.

I think my favourites are Susannah and Penelope.

Elizabeth is nice but you will have 'Miss E. Brown' post addressed to your house at some point and it may cause problems.

Felicity and Verity are a bit fussy for my taste.

PercyFilth · 06/02/2012 02:40

I don't much like any of them, except Susannah which I like very much indeed.

Singaporebump · 06/02/2012 02:42

I love Libby and Elizabeth goes well with Emily. Penelope would be more unusual and good because of it, horrible when they start school and there are a few others in the class with the same name.
