I mean we haven't even decided if we are going to have number 3 ... but if we do, and if I had a boy I would love an Edward nicknamed Ted.

Everyone I have spoken has told me it's either too 'Posh' or too 'Old fashioned'.

I love it though. Do you?

It's a lovely name. Ted is a lovely nickname. It is not posh or old fashioned.

Get cracking on number 3 Grin

RueDeWakening · 02/02/2012 21:10

I've got one of my own already :o

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 02/02/2012 21:11

I love it, have a small nephew called Edward his dad won't let us call him Ted though, he is a nob

awomenscorned · 02/02/2012 21:12

Too popular but gawjus if you don't mind. Wink

AgathaPinchBottom · 02/02/2012 21:12

I'm trying to conceive at the moment and he's definitely going to be an Edward too. (well that's if it's a boy!) Teddy or Ted for short. It's super dooper.

Oooh hope it all goes well for you Agatha Smile

It was my no. 1 choice for ds, but mil got a bit arsey about it (another Edward in the family) and so for a quiet life we reconsidered and chose another name.

But, needless to say, I absolutely love it. It is increasing in popularity again.

AgathaPinchBottom · 02/02/2012 21:22

Thanks bythemoonlight! Ds1 took 18 months, so could be a while! Wink

ahhhhhpushit · 02/02/2012 21:58

We have an Edward nn Ted/Teddy :)

LineRunner · 02/02/2012 22:01

LOve it.

If it's 'too popular' what about Edmund. Or Edwin.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/02/2012 22:02

Love it, I know a little Ted!

cece · 02/02/2012 22:02

We chose it for our DC3.

However, in the end it didn't suit him so he got called something else Smile

bytheMoonlight · 02/02/2012 22:23

Do you all get positive reactions?

posey · 02/02/2012 22:30

It is a fab name. Really lovely, and round here (London) not at all posh. Ds is Edward (only his v big sister calls him that though!), he is definitely Ted but thinks when he goes to secondary school he might call himself Ed as he thinks Ted might be a bit babyish Grin
When we had him 9 years ago we didn't know any children called Edward/Ed/Ted, but now know quite a few ranging in age from 5-10.

posey · 02/02/2012 22:32

Oh and in answer to your question, I have never had any negative reactions to his name.

Ohgoonthenpouranother · 02/02/2012 22:39

Proud owner of an Eddy here too
Edd when he's bigger
Not Edward. One of the others mentioned upthread

Fogie · 02/02/2012 22:46

Ds is only 'Edward' at hospital appointments.

Unfortunately Teddy is becoming increasingly popular. Ds is one of two in his class!

ReduceRecycleRegift · 02/02/2012 22:48

I love it, its one of those names that grows with the person because there are so many ways to use it. Edward if they want to be serious/professional, Ed, Ted, Teddy, Eddie if they want to be more informal

Thetokengirl · 02/02/2012 22:50

We have an Edward (age 7). Refuses to be called any shortened form of it (tried Ned, Ed and Ted). Don't know of any other Edwards in his school. I'd say go for it, but of course I'm biased! Grin

24joy · 02/02/2012 22:51

How about Woody? Love that name...

SoFarWeAreEqual · 03/02/2012 08:10

I am going against the grain here; I really don't like it - I think it is staid and dull. I do love Ted though.

Rhubarbgarden · 03/02/2012 08:14

I like it. I like Edgar even more.

SoozyWoozy · 03/02/2012 09:24

My bump is being called Baby Bear by my DCs so we thought Ted would be good for a DS if we have one! Teddy Bear LOL Grin I like Edward, love Ted, but really don't like Ed / Eddie (ex-boyfriends NN!!!!) so maybe we won't... Boys names are MUCH harder than girls!

PopcornBiscuit · 03/02/2012 09:31

Lovely classic name.

Ted isn't posh, it's just an ordinary nickname, but Teddy is (far too twee for the non-posh!)

lolajane2009 · 03/02/2012 11:25

I have a son called Edward, who is 5 months old. Nn Teddy/ Little Ted since his great grandfather was nicknamed big ted.
