Arthur Rupert
or
Wilfred Matthew

Which would you choose and why?

Arthur Rupert is great

RabidEchidna · 04/02/2012 15:26

Arthur Rupert sounds lovely

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/02/2012 16:56

Like Rupert, Wilfred and Matthew - hate Arthur.

ScoutJemAndBoo · 04/02/2012 18:37

If your surname is Smth, the Wilf Smth is too like Will Smith lol.

fredandginger · 06/02/2012 09:14

It's not Smith, don't worry Scout :) Thanks for the feedback, certainly something I'll be pondering for a little while yet.

DH likes Arthur but not Rupert, but is willing to give in (think witnessing childbirth the first time around has heightened his respect for Mums and therefore he thinks I should get something a little 'extra'..... alongside jewellery of course!)

I'm 50/50 on the first names, but absolutely LOVE Rupert, and Wilfred Rupert sounds all wrong

Wilfred

fredandginger · 11/03/2012 12:00

So we've gone round in circles a little, and I'm shocked as DH has actually started to come round to the name Rupert!

So now I can't decide between Arthur or Rupert as first names....! It's driving me crazy

I think it would either be:

Rupert Francis (cannot believe DH is considering this!)
or
Arthur Rupert (which I also love)

Which would you choose?

Arthur Rupert, out of your new choices.

leftwingharpie · 11/03/2012 12:56

Although if you "absolutely LOVE Rupert" and your DH is coming round, I can't understand why you wouldn't have Rupert as the first name.

PhasesRUs · 11/03/2012 14:27

Wilfred Matthew. For me (and you did ask) Rupert is a rather chinless, dim posh boy.

GreenDragonfly · 11/03/2012 14:33

Love Wilfred and Rupert so would go with Wilfred James Rupert.

Out of the new choices definitely Rupert not sure about Francis though.

RedFlagFlying · 11/03/2012 15:56

Love Arthur.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/03/2012 16:32

Liking Rupert Francis a lot.

mayanna123 · 11/03/2012 17:00

Rupert Francis is a lovely combo, I agree.

mayanna123 · 11/03/2012 17:00

PhasesRUs, would your association with Rupert (chinless, dim boy), change if you met a charming, clever one?

LottieJenkins · 11/03/2012 18:54

Wilfred is a great name but i am very biased!! Wink

FilterCoffee · 11/03/2012 18:56

I'm afraid I don't like Rupert so I'd go for Francis Arthur, Francis Matthew, Wilfred Matthew, Wilfred Francis.

DialMforMummy · 11/03/2012 19:34

Can I suggest Arthur Matthew? Loathe the other two.

PhasesRUs · 13/03/2012 17:53

Mayanna123: Of course. I also believe it's very possible to be totally charming as well as chinless and a little dim ? but I'm thinking of no Tory politician in particular, of course!)

PercyFilth · 13/03/2012 19:25

" would your association with Rupert (chinless, dim boy), change if you met a charming, clever one "

Rupert Everett. What a waste. :o

marshmallowpies · 14/03/2012 10:24

I'd prefer Arthur over Wilfred as I don't really like Wilfred at all (despite loving Wilfred Owen)...but Rupert would also be a no-no for me. Matthew is fine...so I'd go for Arthur Matthew.

notso · 14/03/2012 10:37

The only names I really like on your lists are Francis and Matthew.

I can't get over my hatred of Rupert the bear

I don't think Arthur Rupert go because of the two R's together, but Arthur is way nicer than Rupert.
Arthur Francis, Francis Arthur or Arthur Matthew.

lou4791 · 14/03/2012 19:35

I agree with a few of the other posters- Arthur Matthew James.
