Ok, still looking for 'the' boys name for dc3 due in a few weeks. Thought we had it down to two but now not sure (not least thanks to reactions on here - all v helpful!). And today read 'Huey' in the paper (talking about the one from th Fun Lovin Criminals) and thought hmmm, maybe I really like that. Not keen on Hugh, but think it is 'gh'-ness that I don't like rather than the sound.

So, any views on Huey anyone?

Thanks!

I'd always want to ask where Dewey and Lewie were. It's a duckling name.

Lugsie · 29/01/2012 19:44

I'm not so keen on Huey myself but my DH loves it!

themsthebreaks · 29/01/2012 19:48

Oh bugger didn't think about those three duck things...

I call DP this, bit his given name is Hugo.

PercyFilth · 29/01/2012 20:16

You could opt for the Welsh spelling Huw.

PopcornBiscuit · 29/01/2012 20:52

I thought of the ducks too.

Nice nickname for Hugh/Huw though.

Pinkflipflop · 29/01/2012 20:52

Huey is the sound you make when throwing up!

Don't like it!

sparklyflowers · 29/01/2012 21:34

I've got one and use this as nn.

rachel234 · 29/01/2012 22:31

Nice nickname for Hugh.

JuluLu · 30/01/2012 06:16

Hugh is pretty bad, but Huey is just unforgiveable. Sounds like vomiting.

HardCheese · 30/01/2012 06:35

I quite like it, but I've just gone into full-blown Huey Lewis and the News mode, and am now humming 'If This Is It' and 'The Power of Love'.

MamaLazarou · 30/01/2012 14:24

Vomit noise. Sorry.

PercyFilth · 30/01/2012 14:59

Almost any name can be made to sound like a vomiting or retching noise if you try, though ...

mrsshears · 30/01/2012 18:10

Sorry but its the phrase "bending over the toilet and calling for huey" that would put me off.

gaunyerseljeannie · 30/01/2012 18:11

Hughie is not uncommon in Scotland, think that "Huey"is a bad spelling though,

KatieScarlett2833 · 30/01/2012 18:12

Vomit sound

Will be called Poohey at school

HamblesHandbag · 30/01/2012 18:46

I know a 4 year old Huey. It's a cool name!

SoupDragon · 30/01/2012 18:47

I think of either ducks or throwing up.

lisaro · 30/01/2012 18:49

It's Hughie - nickname for Hugh.

justhayley · 30/01/2012 18:56

Lol I'm childish but I thought of pooey hughy, & if i think it & im all grown up I'm sure kids in the playground will - sorry!
How about Hugo and u can call him hughy at home until he's 3 :)

Bunbaker · 30/01/2012 18:59

"Huey is the sound you make when throwing up!"

Sorry, but that is the first thing I thought of as well. OH used to say that someone would be "talking to Huey on the big white telephone"

I'm not keen on Hugh or Hughie either - Hughie Green anyone?

Tonksforthememories · 30/01/2012 19:06

There's a Huey in DD1's year, Lovely boy!

hugglymugly · 30/01/2012 19:23

Well, my first thought was of a helicopter: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell_Huey_family - which either marks me as a geek or old (or both). But at least that association is better than a bird or vomit.

I don't often look at baby_names (my DC are adults now), but I've read sufficient to know that it really isn't easy to choose a name.

MrsRupertBear · 30/01/2012 20:15

I like it. I think Hugo is a lovely name IMO.
