Which do you prefer, or are neither that nice! I'm quite uninspired but do like these two.

Katie Scarlett

I prefer Scarlett by a mile, not keen on Erica at all.

I have a Scarlett and she just suits it down to the ground. However on another thread a poster told me it was chavvy! I didn't think it was but others obviously do!

Bonsoir · 25/01/2012 17:03

Erica isn't very nice at all. Scarlett is OK.

NotnOtter · 25/01/2012 17:40

I adore Erica and have it in my über cool list
met a baby one five years ago and was totally wowed!! Scarlett is much more ordinary

PopcornBiscuit · 25/01/2012 18:57

Erica is pretty and has a nice plant meaning.

I'd avoid Scarlett because of "scarlet woman" connotations and the "scar" sound.

Ihatepeas · 25/01/2012 19:57

Love Erica.. Gorgeous name!

usingapseudonym · 25/01/2012 20:11

I'd go Erica as I like it. Also would want to avoid negative connotations with Scarlett.

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 25/01/2012 21:09

Erica by a mile.

Sorry to any Mums of Scarletts - this is just my opinion - but the name has had its day and will date. And I say this as someone who adored GWTW.

I don't usually go for feminised male names, but I make an exception for Erica - it just has something. Understated, in-frilly and yet inherently chic and feminine. She also wouldn't be inundated with others in her class.

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 25/01/2012 21:11

un-frilly!

LineRunner · 25/01/2012 21:12

I like both, but I personally would go for Erica.

HettyKett · 25/01/2012 21:15

Of the two, Erica.

Scarlett the harlot...

Erin?
Charlotte

kumquatsarethelonelyfruit · 25/01/2012 21:15

Erica

Takver · 25/01/2012 21:19

Erica

Scarlett is fine, but Erica more cool and a bit unusual without being weird IMO

HettyKett · 25/01/2012 21:21

Erica is growing on me very, very quickly.

Tirana · 25/01/2012 21:24

Thank you for the replies.

I think i'm leaning towards Erica more for the reasons slinkingoutsideinfrocks said. It seems quite cool and un-frilly without I hope being to boyish.

I just hope it's not boring and plain. Scarlett seems the opposite of plain - a 'full of life' type of name which is nice.

Although if the über stylish bonsoir doesn't like Erica maybe it's not cool at all

tammytoby · 25/01/2012 21:53

Erica - elegant, classy, cool and underused these days.

Scarlett - little scar (sorry, don't like it at all)

ThePoorMansBeckySharp · 25/01/2012 23:02

Erica. Scarlett is faddish and will soon sound very dated.

Alligatorpie · 26/01/2012 05:20

I love Scarlett, but I already have a Charlotte, so it doesn't work for me!

LeoTheLateBloomer · 26/01/2012 06:41

One of those is my name. I always used to hate it because it was so unusual. Now it looks like I'm uber cool, chic, elegant and feminine Grin

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 26/01/2012 06:58
Grin

Know what you mean, I didn't like my name growing up as it was so old-fashioned, but now you can't move for babies and toddlers with the name.

Snoozypants · 26/01/2012 09:54

I'd go for Scarlett-all the opinions about the harlot, Scarlet woman and scars in general are awful and a bit narrow minded. And to be honest I've never met anyone who would be so cutting as to say something like that to a lovely little Scarlett.

To me its a beautiful name, firey, independant and even though it has been popular I wouldn't exactly call it common, don't dismiss it yet OP!

AThingInYourLife · 26/01/2012 09:56

Erica by a mile.

Although I prefer it spelled Erika, probably because all the Erikas I've known have used that spelling.
