Hi all!

I am due in a couple of weeks and whilst we have some names we really LIKE, so far nothing has leapt out as LOVE.

Your opinions/thoughts might help us decide!

Darwin (current fave)
Orson (my phone corrected that to prison first time... An omen?! ;)
Forest
Faraday (too girly? Also sounds odd with our surname)

Hit me with your thoughts!

Not sure that Del floats my boat much!

It's def between Orson and Darwin. I fear Orson may be a bit up and coming/popular? It seems to be floating around quite a bit - it was on our shortlist for DS2 and seems to have gained in popularity since .

I love Darwin... I am just concerned I may sound like a knob yelling it in Waitrose at a 2 year old

nooooo go for it - by the time youve said it 400 times a day you'll be immune....i once caught a couple sniggering at ds4s name in town - i felt quite pleased!!!!

No I wouldn't be either! Not sure where it comes from TBH.

And most importantly... Paul Bettany played Charles Darwin in a movie and he's fit.
That's surely all we need?!

yy to Paul Bettany. They aren't really my taste either, but Darwin is really growing on me. Orson is a big name for a little boy, IMO

MakkaPakkasWilly · 26/01/2012 06:06

Hmmm I like that it's a grower. I don't mind those names where you think 'ugh' at first but then you think it's ok after all

These all seem like middle name territory to me. I don't really 'get' calling your child the surname of someone you admire - personally I'd use the first name, as that is what they were actually called, so Michael or Charles. I have to admit I'm curious about Orson and Forest though, as to me the only connection that comes to mind is Orson Wells and Forest Gump.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 26/01/2012 07:59

I just liked Orson and Forest. No admiration factor.

Orson and Darwin are the best out of the list.

I like 'Forest' but that's because I live in one. Not sure I could actually bring myself to name a DC it though. How about Sylvan? Means forest.
