Middle name for Eleanor?

We can't use Rose, otherwise that would have been a contender. Our surname is two syllable, starting with T. Any suggestions? I think a one syllable mn might work best, but I'm fairly open minded about it as I can't think of many. Obviously anything starting with A is out...

Some possibles are:

Jane
Phoebe
Rachael (too much ae/ea when paired with Eleanor?)
Lois

I agree something short and punchy sounds best with a 3 sylllable first and 2 syllable surname

My name is Eleanor and I have a one syllable middle name, which I think works well with a three syllable first name. Mine is Kay but don't use that as it'll freak me out Grin. Or if you do don't tell us.

before i opened up the thread I was already thinking of Jane Grin

Def Jane. Eleanor Jane sounds lovely.

OrmIrian · 24/01/2012 11:24

DD's is Anne. But only because that is my middle name and my mum's. Jane is best IMO.

wahwahwah · 24/01/2012 11:25

Grace. I did think Jane when I first saw it but maybe go for something prettier?

Everyone has their own preferences but what I will say is that when we were choosing names for our DDs, two of the main things I personally was eager to avoid with middle names were:

Initials can form a word or a sound:
As OP's surname starts with a "T" and the first name is going to be Eleanor, anything starting with an "A" would be out immediately (E.A.T.)

Single syllable middle name:
I know lots of people have perfectly nice single-syllable middle names, and I know it's a really picky point, but I find that a single-syllable name runs the risk of being mistaken as a "hyphenated" name (eg/ Eleanor-Jane).

Ihatepeas · 24/01/2012 15:05

I know an Eleanor Mary think that's lovely!

Charliewasagoodhamster · 24/01/2012 15:09

It sounds lovely with May. Depending on your surname Lynn might be nice.
