Hi All,
Have been having awful trouble trying to agree on our girls name-ideally we had wanted a form of Mary but felt Molly has become away too popular but a mumsnetter suggested Polly & I cant get it out of my head lol!!! The name we have agreed on(for the moment!!) is not a form of Mary but having Mary as second name. Loving Polly at the moment:)
What do you think of
Polly Kate
Polly Katherine
Polly Kitty
Thanks in advance

Thanks a million for the replies. As I mentioned above I cannot understand the huge popularity of Molly & Holly in comparison to Polly?
Also Polly Catherine is what we would use if we pick Polly but what do you all think of Primrose as middle name Polly Primrose anyone???

Too many P's with Polly Primrose.

I like Polly Catherine the best!

tentative123 · 22/01/2012 22:13

I'm a Polly and ithink its a great name!

DeeCrepitude · 22/01/2012 22:18

Polly Primrose is really pretty - love it.

Ladyemem · 22/01/2012 22:19

Not Polly Kitty,

I have a Molly Grace. Must say i haven't come across may other in her school with that name. There is 1 other in her year group of 85 children.
What about Patsy or Betsy. Similar?

Ladyemem · 22/01/2012 22:20

or poppy

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 22/01/2012 22:58

Polly Primrose sounds like a doll again. But I'm guessing that's the sort of name you go for.

Polly Catherine is definitely the nicest.

MsMarple · 22/01/2012 23:02

Polly Catherine is the best of the suggestions I think.

Polly Kate, or Polly Kitty sound a bit like a chemical compounds or stuff to fill wall cracks to me.

YummyMummybee · 22/01/2012 23:05

Laydemem I love Molly but where I live there has been 5 since xmas:( Slinking I do love very dolly cutesy style names lol! Yes Polly Catherine is probably best but really love the girly factor of Polly Primrose...

Polly catherine

YummyMummybee · 22/01/2012 23:08

Tnks Ms Marple-would still love to know if anyone can shed some light on why Molly & Holly so popular & Polly isnt??

I wouldn't mind standing up in front of the class on my first day of school and announcing my name to be Polly Primose...

But I would be cringing beyond belief, facing my husband-to-be, say, on our wedding day, about to take him as an equal partner in life, saying 'I, Polly Primose, take thee normal-named adult person...'

But that's just me. Polly is fine if you offset it with a beautiful classic name like Catherine.

ScoutJemAndBoo · 22/01/2012 23:10

Polly-thene is what it makes me think of, sorry.

How about Poppy?

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 22/01/2012 23:13

Nobody can shed any definitive light on it. Confused

The liking or disliking of names is a very individul thing. It just turns out that more people like Molly and Holly - for whatever reason - than Polly. That, and the fact that it's sort of synonymous with parrots might turn a few people off.

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 22/01/2012 23:17

I like Polly. And Penny. Rather freaked DH out the other week by announcing a girl would be would be Penelope, Penny for nn. We aren't planning any more DCs Grin thank fuck for that says everyone

Primrose123 · 22/01/2012 23:21

Love Polly, but not with Kitty. I quite like Kate as the middle name, or Grace as someone mentioned earlier.

YummyMummybee · 22/01/2012 23:23

Lol re the parrot thats what my hubby keeps referring back to-he is not a fan of Polly..! I can see what you mean re the wedding vows Polly Primrose may be rouse a little giggle from the congregation. I do like it alot-our front runner at the moment is India Mary, with Molly/Polly - Catherine or Primrose next..

I much prefer your suggestion of Maisy to Polly.

Maisy Catherine would be nice, or Maisy Primrose.

LivingDead · 22/01/2012 23:29

I like Polly, makes me think of PJ Harvey, although the more times you say it (at least in your head), the less appealing it becomes Confused.

I think Catherine/Katherine is a fine name (my sister Grin) also has a lot of leeway in the shortening stakes, Kitty/Kat/Katy and so forth.

yellowflowers · 22/01/2012 23:34

It's not that popular. I know loads of Millies but no Mollies. If you absolutely love a name then don't let popularity put you off - I bet there wouldn't be more than two in the class and how annoyed would you be if there ended up being several Pollies but no Mollies.

shouldnotbehere · 24/01/2012 11:20

I love the name Polly. I also love Mollie / Molly.

Polly Katherine gets my vote.

Polly Primrose is far too cutesy IMO. I think Polly Catherine/Katherine works best out of the ones you've mentioned.

dippydoodah · 24/01/2012 13:14

Polly Katherine. Def not Polly Kitty!

TheGrandOldDuke · 24/01/2012 13:20

Adore adore adore the name Polly!
Pollyanna?
