Vivid dream about future baby name - premonition or not?

I'm not preganant (not even planning to be right now) but last night had an extremely vivid dream in which I had a baby boy. When my husband appeared in the dream I went to tell him the name I had chosen for our son but realised I had forgotten it. When I looked over at the wall there was a chalkboard with lots of names crossed out. In the middle of the board, in large letters, the only name that wasn't crossed out was 'Ishmael'. It's not a name we have ever talked about, it's not a name I have come across recently - and I'm not a fan of Moby Dick...

Thoughts? Premonition or just a random dream?

Random dream, but you might find the name grows on you. Wait and see.

I really like, wanted it for DS2 but DH wasn't keen.

Random dream. Do you like the name Ishmael?

I'm not sure to tbh, like it way it looks but don't love the way it sounds if that makes any sense. I wouldn't rule it out but it's a name I would have to sit with for awhile.

I like it. DH loves it and is a huge fan of Moby Dick. We can't use it though as we already have a Samuel. And here "ish" is used interchangeably with "ick" or "yuck" so that wouldn't work.

Cheerful The DS I wanted to call Ishmael ended up being Samuel. I would still consider it if we ever had a DS3. I think they sound acceptable together.

if you looking into dreams as premonitions or even dream Psycology, baby dreams are rarely about actual babies, but new projects, new beginnings so to speak, anything from starting up a business to a new house or job - does the name perhaps symbolise something related to a potential new project - could be even as simple as the name reminding you of a persons nationality, or a country & thats where the new beginning lies????

Random dream, I'd say. I dreamt I gave birth to twins, they turned into gerbils and ran away - I hope that's not a premonition! But if you love the name, go for it!

Just to throw in a few more ideas, if you put Ishamel into www.nymbler.com some of its suggestions are:

Ezekiel, Samson, Noah, Ethan, Jacob, Nathaniel, James, Benjamin, Matthias, Caleb, Owen, Henry, Oliver, Alexander, Joel, David, Jonathan, Eli, Amos, Matthew, Cassius, Benedict, Maximilian, John, Dominic, Duncan, Thomas, Dylan, Alastair, Harrison, William.

Are you jewish? Perhaps you should use it as inspiration for a more common name, such as Isaac.

I had a very vivid dream one night I had a little boy and called him William, it was so real I could almost feel myself holding him, and can still remember exactly what he looked like.... The next day I took a pregnancy test and BFP, even though I was convinced I wasn't pg as not had a period for 2 months. Not sure on the name William but sort of feel if it is a boy I should call him that cos of the dream!
