I quite like it but Serafina is the name of the Queen Witch in the His Dark Materials books. This is probably not helpful, sorry.

I think it's pretty spelt Seraphina, it's the name of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's daughter (if that matters to you!)

Pretty name, but this would be the issue your DD would have for the rest of her life. "Sara what?" "can you spell that please?".

I don't often see either name, but when I see Josefina, I always read it in a Spanish accent. Serafina doesn't sound much different in Spanish, but it does look a bit wrong to me.

If I had a DD Seraphina I would probably call her Serra (NOT pn like Sarah).
Other nns could be Fifi, Sally, Sera, Finn, Fi.

Seraphina is one of my top favourites, but so far DH has vetoed on the grounds of it being a witch's name. Hmph.

I wouldn't want to let anyone shorten such a lovely name, but they will probably do it anyway, to Fi/Fee or Finn/Finny or maybe Raff/Raffy.

Everytime I look on nameberry it seems to be one of the most searched names, so maybe it will be a popular one this year.

Sorry Angel but to me it doesn't seem that different to your names! Maybe a little more unusual, but I'd say it was within the same ballpark. Am curious now though, (and I'm not asking this in a bitchy way I promise) - what sort of names would you say it is on a par with?

Why is Seraphina/fina being a witch's name a problem? I rather liked the witches in HDM - not exactly warty hags or even new-agey Wicca types - and pretty sure Serafina was on the heroine's side?

I love the name btw - either spelling - although I do slightly prefer Serafina with the F :)

I know one now, and was a school with one, both Italian both spell it Serafina and nn Fina

HI grubbalo - to me, and of course just my opinion, Seraphina is in the league of names like Savannah, Chardonnay, Tamika, Gabriella....

Totally subjective really - i just think it sounds like someone with no class who wants their child to sound classy!!
