Such a pretty name, would you be bonkers to use it now.

BTW I'm not even pregnant, just name obsessed.

YWBBTUIN.

Mollydoggerson · 06/01/2012 14:55

Havn't a clue what that abbreviation stands for. - mustn't be good.

Our kids' generation will not have the same associations as we do and wouldn't bat an eyelid meeting a little Sharon. The name actually has a nice sound to it.

Mollydoggerson · 06/01/2012 14:55

Yes would be bonkers to use it now.

Yeah, what does that abbrev. mean, Elaine?

ElaineReese · 06/01/2012 14:56

I made it up just for this.... You Would Be Bonkers To Use It Now! Grin

Mollydoggerson · 06/01/2012 14:57

YWBBTUIN - You would be bonkers to use it now, i'm guessing.

I think if I met a little Sharon now, I'd start to associate the name with her. She'd also not have to share her name with all the other Evies and Ellas in her class and as an adult she'd have a very 'in' name (as it will have come into fashion by then again)!

Mollydoggerson · 06/01/2012 15:00

Sahron and Patricia - two nice sounding names that need a come back

Sugar that should read Sharon

I don't know ? doesn't Patricia sound like someone sneezing?

GwendolineMaryLacey · 06/01/2012 15:02

I think if I met a 2 year old Sharon I wouldn't think anything of it now. None of her contemporaries would have the name and people her age would be too busy casting aspersions on all the Sophies and Olivias!

Mollydoggerson · 06/01/2012 15:04

Well a sneeze is one tenth of an orgasm

I think Sharon has a pretty sound and a nice association as an old testament place name (I think). Shame about the 'Sharon and Tracey' associations, but I don't think these will exist for the next generation and it may be quite cool. Not sure I would risk it though...

tummytickler · 06/01/2012 15:32

I love the name Sharon, such a pretty name. I would use it in a heartbeat, but I have a cousin with the name, whom we see often so would be weird!
Patricia is also fab - Patsy a great nn.
I also like Jane, Gloria, Shirley, Judith. I think I am a fan of middle aged chic Grin

YummyMummybee · 06/01/2012 16:54

Always class Sharon, Tracey, Michelle etc in the same bunch totally 80's and completely & utterly overused then. Btw I dont mean to offend. Boyfallingoutofhtesky-I'm in Ireland & it was the same Sharon & Tracy reigned supreme along with Michelles!

fruitshootsandheaves · 06/01/2012 16:58

I quite like 'Sahron' actually

Obviously with the middle name Tarcey

mathanxiety · 06/01/2012 20:12

Prefer Karen. I think it stands the test of time better.

I think Sharon, Linda, and Tracey will have a long banishment before anyone will use them again.

YummyMummybee · 06/01/2012 20:14

Your right Mathanxiety - Linda is another one of that select group Lisa being borderline!

marblerye · 06/01/2012 20:15

I love Sharon. Its one of my fave names. I think its different from all those other 60s/70s names because its a bible name.

Kayano · 06/01/2012 21:02

I only knew one and she got called Shazza

We are northern though. It was the 80s and early 90s

It's awful sorry

LadyInPink · 06/01/2012 21:07

I know one but with the pronounciation Share-ron (her mum said that's how they pronounced it in the Bible, 'The Rose of Sharon') - not sure how she would know how the Bible pronounced it tbh though Hmm

jellybeans · 06/01/2012 21:09

It's Ok but they tend to get Shaz which I am not keen on. It's abit daring.
