Ok, so it's a bit random, but what do you think of Finch? Can be shortened to Finn if he hates it.

Be honest please, I really like it and think it will be good when he's an adult, but am not 100% yet!

It's a bird. Sorry, couldn't get past that.

smithster · 02/01/2012 15:04

i've heard it as a surname before, don't love, don't hate it, it's different without being ridiculous.

LynetteScavo · 02/01/2012 15:05

Rhymes with pinch.

BlastOff · 02/01/2012 15:07

And Wasn't one of the characters in American pie called Finch? The one who had an affair with Stifler's mum?

No, definitely a no from me (but then both my ds have names in the top 40 so you might they think they were dull - different strokes and all that!)

lisaro · 02/01/2012 15:21

Finchy was the sleazy salesman in 'The Office'. Not sure how or why I remember that. As a first name it's bloody awful. Please don't saddle your child with it.

LaFilleSurLePont · 02/01/2012 15:28

It sounds like a 70's tv detective. Awful. I don't like Finn either.

3boysgirlontheway · 02/01/2012 15:55

Don't really like it. I like F names generally but, this just sounds weird to me in some way.

oikopolis · 02/01/2012 16:06

No.

DELHI · 02/01/2012 16:17

and another No. Its a little garden bird, not a name.

hohohoshedittant · 02/01/2012 16:18

No. Just No.

Finn is nice though.

ShowOfHands · 02/01/2012 16:22

What do I think about finch? I love finches. They're curious looking, inquisitive, entertaining little things.

As a name? Not so much.

TheMonster · 02/01/2012 16:24

No. I know someone with it as a surname and he gets called Tit by his mates.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/01/2012 16:59

Terrible, sorry. Don't like Finn either.

But I do like Robin.

nightowlmostly · 02/01/2012 19:18

Well, thank you all for your honesty anyway! Will keep thinking on it, hopefully come up with something better! I just want something a bit different without being too wacky!

I like it :) really like it a lot. Not sure about the character associations other posters have spotted though Confused

Quite like a lot of 'surnamey' names, Fletcher, Mitchell, Mackenzie, Huxley...

Think boys can get away with it and it's quite manly as an adult.

Ihatecbeebies · 02/01/2012 19:52

I quite like it, I also really like the name Finn Smile

sonniebonnie · 02/01/2012 20:12

Not keen on either Finch or Fin/Finn, sorry.
