Is this a known spelling of Felix? Have never seen it before. DH thinks is either a mis-spelling on his iphone or on purpose and is just ridiculous and made up. I couldn't say one way or another. Please enlighten me, I need to write the card!

I don't know but I'll be blunt Wink

It's bloody awful lol

tribpot · 31/12/2011 23:49

Oh. My. God.

It must be a mis-spelling, or his parents are security fanatics maybe Hmm.

Just put Felix and let them correct you!

Casmama · 31/12/2011 23:52

Ha ha I'm so glad you are not asking if people think this is a good idea for a name! Is there anyone else that you could check with? If not I would go with Phelix as to appear to be correcting the spelling would look very rude whereas a "bloody autocorrect" could be laughed at.

crumpet · 31/12/2011 23:58

With Tripot.

It surely can't be.

TopazMortmain · 01/01/2012 00:08

Looks like a brand of calculator... Sorry

tribpot · 01/01/2012 00:08

I feel it's only right, given the context of the thread, to point out my username is tribpot, not tripot Xmas Grin. Bloody autocorrect eh?!

Jux · 01/01/2012 00:39

It is ridiculous and pretentious.

Faverolles · 01/01/2012 00:44

I prefer Phrederick.

exexpat · 01/01/2012 00:44

Phelix seems to be some kind of encryption device. Are you meant to be congratulating someone on the birth of a baby or development of some new technology?

I'd go with Felix - you won't be the first or the last, and with any luck if all the birth congratulation cards arrive with the proper spelling they might be in time to change the name before the child has to start a lifetime of 'correcting' people.

tribpot · 01/01/2012 00:58

Phiona, Phanny, Phrances or Phrancis - what a fab (phab) new trend for 2012!

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 01/01/2012 02:36

Congratulate them on the birth of their little Helix.

oikopolis · 01/01/2012 02:37

Lordy I hope it's a typo. That is just dreadful.

Never heard of that spelling and quite sure it's made up, if that is indeed the poor child's name.

lisaro · 01/01/2012 03:15

I'm going to just be nice and agree with you. Ridiculous and made up.

FarloRigel · 01/01/2012 03:29

Just copy it straight; there's less chance for causing offence. Even if it is an auto-correct error or typo it could just as easily have been meant to be Phelim as Felix. According to Ancestry.co.uk however, there are 38 Phelixes on record for 2011 so it's certainly possible!

guinealady · 01/01/2012 11:16

I have a real problem with Ph names - have always disliked Philip and Philippa, which is a pity for a girl's name as I think Pippa is a very pretty name, but I'd never name a child by the nn, I'd always want to give them the full name.

Would much prefer Philip if it became acceptable to use the Spanish spelling, Felipe.

So yes, Phelix is an abomination in my view.

tooearlymustdache · 01/01/2012 11:18

poor little Phella if it is Phelix Sad

MrsJAlfredPrufrock · 01/01/2012 11:24

You could write it down as Phelicz.

Can you give us the context please OP?

Are you sure they didn't intend to write, for example, Phallus?

JenniferEight · 01/01/2012 14:29

Or Philip Blush
