I really like Finn or Finlay - it's on my short list Grin not keen on Dominic though

moondog · 29/12/2011 20:26

Noooooo.
Every blighter called this.

Newtothisstuff · 29/12/2011 20:30

I like it tooSmile

Haziedoll · 29/12/2011 20:33

I love Finn and Dominic.

wigglesrock · 29/12/2011 20:49

Dominic was on my boys list, 3 dds later - I must insist you use it Grin Finn is nice but not as nice.

DriverDan · 29/12/2011 20:53

I know lots of little Finns, it is very popular where I am (North West), obviously fine if that doesn't bother you! I prefer Dominic.

pranma · 29/12/2011 21:06

I love Finn [my dgs name].He is so wonderful it makes the name special too.
Dominic was on my list for ds 42 years ago!

broccolitrees · 29/12/2011 21:13

i love finn (much more than dominic) but it is very popular. we can't use it as dh vetoed it espescially as our surname begins with f as well

poppydaisy · 29/12/2011 22:43

Part of a fish.

Pidgy · 31/12/2011 08:54

I like Finn. I think that is what we will use if we have a little boy. Finn James.

3isamagicnumber · 31/12/2011 10:46

I like Finn but prefer Dominic. This would be on our shortlist if our surname wasnt so long!

Rollergirl1 · 31/12/2011 21:52

DS (3) is called Finn. I was expecting every litle boy to be called it but so far have only come across Finlay's and Finley's. Rather than just 'Finn'. But we are in the south so perhaps not as prevalent.

DH is irish so we wanted irish names. I like a lot of the boys irish names but think they can be hard to spell/pronounce. I think is more acceptable for a girl (DD called Aoife) but think could be more of a hindrance for a boy. So we went simple. Can't get any more simple than Finn.

I still really like it and so far is the only one with the name. Obv i'm biased though....Xmas Grin

callmemrs · 01/01/2012 12:34

Doesn't sound like a proper name. Sounds short for Finley (which to me sounds like a surname anyway)

JenniferEight · 01/01/2012 12:49

It's a beautiful name. But all my friends - those friends I've known for years, don't see any more hardly - have got baby boys called Finn or variants of spelling.

Pidgy be careful, there might be two something-Jameses in his class, one of whom is then known as fat James! Finn should not probably be used as a hyphenated first name with something else for this reason.

JenniferEight · 01/01/2012 12:50

I really dislike the name Dominic - sorry. Associations is all really.
